Everything Salmon Sheet Pan Dinner Recipe

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • Cooking spray
  • 2 medium sweet potatoes, sliced into 1/4-inch wedges
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • teaspoon kosher salt, divided
  • teaspoon ground black pepper, divided
  • cup Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 5 cups broccoli florets
  • 4 (5 ounce) salmon fillets
  • 2 tablespoons everything bagel seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce

Directions

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 425F (220C). Line a large, rimmed baking sheet with foil and lightly coat it with cooking spray.

Step 2: In a medium bowl, toss the sweet potatoes with 2 teaspoons of olive oil, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/8 teaspoon pepper. Spread the sweet potato wedges on one half of the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 5 minutes.

Step 3: While the potatoes are baking, whisk together Dijon mustard, honey, and cayenne pepper in a small bowl. Set aside.

Step 4: In a separate bowl, toss the broccoli florets with the remaining olive oil, salt, and pepper.

Step 5: After 5 minutes, remove the sweet potatoes from the oven. Add the salmon fillets to the other half of the baking sheet. Spoon 2 teaspoons of the mustard mixture onto each salmon fillet and brush it evenly to coat. Sprinkle the salmon with the everything bagel seasoning.

Step 6: Add the broccoli to the side with the sweet potatoes. Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for an additional 12 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and the vegetables are golden and tender.

Step 7: Stir the soy sauce into the remaining mustard mixture and drizzle it over the roasted vegetables before serving.

The Everything Salmon Sheet Pan Dinner specifically is a modern American dish that highlights the flavors of fresh salmon combined with hearty vegetables such as sweet potatoes and broccoli. While this recipe is considered an American creation, regional variations of salmon and vegetable sheet pan dinners can be found across the United States. For instance, on the West Coast, where salmon is abundant, the dish might be prepared with local varieties of fish such as wild-caught Chinook or Coho. On the East Coast, particularly in New England, ingredients such as maple syrup might be incorporated to complement the mustard glaze, giving the dish a more regional touch. The mustard and honey glaze adds a unique sweet and tangy flavor, setting it apart from standard seasoning approaches that typically rely on olive oil or lemon. Another notable difference is the use of everything bagel seasoning, which is often associated with bagels and spreads, but here, it's used to create a flavorful crust on the salmon, elevating its taste. This one-pan approach makes it especially easy to prepare and clean up after.

Where It's Typically Served

The Everything Salmon Sheet Pan Dinner is typically served as a weeknight meal in American homes, offering a quick and nutritious option that doesn't require much prep time. It's perfect for busy families or individuals looking for a balanced meal that includes protein, fiber, and healthy fats. The dish can also be served at casual dinner parties or gatherings, as the vibrant colors and flavors are visually appealing and delicious. Delicious BUT : In Step 5, 12 mins in oven is suggested. I wonder if that’s a typo, because I’ve made this recipe three times (it’s that good) ….trust me when I tell you 18 mins is best for the salmon, brocc, AND taters!

Made it mostly as written and it was delicious!!! I never measure things, so guessed on spices. Timing for the cooking maybe a bit off. I cooked salmon and broccoli for 15. Next time I will cook sweet potatoes for 8, and then add other two ingredients for another 15-16. Gonna keep this recipe close at hand....

Five star restaurant quality! Easy to prep, full of healthy veggies and beautiful presentation - we enjoyed the variety of flavors on the fish versus the vegetables. I would agree with a few minutes longer cooking both the potatoes and the whole tray. I diced my potatoes and used only a dash of cayenne pepper. Even my step-son asked me to make this again! - Nov '23

I made this for my daughter who came in from college and she just simply said……”WOW DAD, you can cook” I added extra cayenne and soy sauce. This recipe is hard to mess up. Oh and step 5, where it says 12 minutes, should be 15-18 minutes.

Excellent. Had no potatoes on hand so I instead used bell pepper and red onions with the broccoli and cooked the entire meal about 20-22 minutes. It was delicious. The combination of the flavors and food was so good.

Over the top excellent!! Followed the basic recipe with a change to no cayenne and replaced the bagel seasoning with Italian herbs and split the 5 cups broccoli with 50/50 of broccoli and cauliflower. This is going to be a definite make again with a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc!!! Colors and flavors worked the whole meal. Thank you

Excellent recipe. I changed the broccoli for asparagus, and listened to another poster and cooked the salmon for 18 minutes. It was perfectly cooked. Everything else was the same.

This was pretty tasty but I DEFINITELY added more of the seasonings! Try brushing and coating an olive oil/brown sugar mix on the salmon, then the mustard mix all over before putting in the oven. Super good.

Delicious and easy! I added green and red peppers, sliced mushrooms, cut red onions, and sliced carrots. Definitely cook at least another 20 minutes when you add the salmon. We'll definitely have this recipe again!

I didn't add the mustard mixture to the veggies and I used Mrs. Dash everything bagel seasoning. Otherwise, I followed the recipe, including time. It was delicious! This is being added to my rotation. Even my very picky 6yr old ate it all

The salmon was cooked perfect. The sweet potatoes didn’t cook and the broccoli was a little hard. Next time I’m going to try asparagus.
