Ingredients
- 8 ounces pasta
- 1 pound ground beef
- Salt, freshly ground black pepper, and garlic powder, to taste
- 1 (10-ounce) can tomato soup
- 8 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350F (175C).
- In a large pot, fill with lightly salted water and bring it to a rolling boil. Add the pasta and cook uncovered, stirring occasionally, for about 10 minutes or until the pasta is tender but firm to the bite. Drain the pasta, reserving about 2 tablespoons of the pasta water.
- While the pasta is cooking, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, stirring frequently, until browned and crumbly, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste. Drain the excess grease from the skillet.
- Transfer the cooked ground beef to a large round casserole dish. Add the cooked pasta on top, then sprinkle with half of the shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Pour the tomato soup over the pasta and beef mixture, then add the reserved pasta water. Stir everything together until well combined.
- Cover the casserole dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
- After 15 minutes, remove the foil and sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top. Return the casserole to the oven and bake uncovered for another 10 minutes.
- For a golden, bubbly top, turn on the ovens broiler and set a rack about 6 inches from the heat source. Broil the casserole for 2 minutes or until the cheese is browned and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, then serve and enjoy!
