Lamb Baby Food Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 lamb shank
- 1 pinch dried thyme (Optional)
Directions
Step 1: Place the lamb shank in a saucepan, covering it with water. Add the dried thyme if using.
Step 2: Cover the saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
Step 3: Once boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook the lamb for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until the meat is falling off the bone.
Step 4: Transfer the lamb shank and 16 ounces of the cooking liquid into two separate s. Allow them to chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour to overnight.
Step 5: Discard any remaining cooking liquid, then skim off any solidified fat from the chilled cooking liquid and discard it as well.
Step 6: Remove the meat from the bone and place it into a food processor. Discard the bone, excess fat, and tendons.
Step 7: Add 2 1/2 ounces of the cooking liquid to the meat and process until you achieve a fine, even texture. If necessary, add more liquid to reach the desired consistency.
Tips
To freeze for later, spoon 1-ounce portions of the lamb mixture into a baby food freezing tray. Freeze and use within 3 months.
