Ingredients
This recipe yields 4 servings. Ingredient amounts are automatically adjusted based on your selection, but the cooking times and steps remain unchanged. Note that not all recipes scale perfectly.
- cup vegetable oil for frying (or as needed)
- 1 cups all-purpose flour (or more if needed)
- cup white sugar
- cup water
- cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- teaspoon salt
Directions
- Pour enough vegetable oil into a skillet to completely cover the bottom. Heat the oil over medium-high heat until it's hot.
- In a blender, combine the flour, sugar, water, milk, egg, baking powder, vanilla extract, and salt. Blend until smooth. If the batter appears too watery, add more flour to reach a thicker consistency.
- Place your finger over the hole of a funnel and fill it with the prepared batter.
- Hold the filled funnel over the skillet and carefully release your finger, allowing the batter to swirl into the hot oil. Shape the batter into a desired pattern or spiral.
- Fry the batter until golden brown, about 5 minutes on each side, flipping carefully to ensure an even cook.

I followed the recipe precisely and the outcome was delightful! These tasted almost identical to the funnel cakes you get at the fair, and they were incredibly simple to make.

Just like being at the county fair! I added two extra tablespoons of water to slightly thin it out. Additionally, I drizzled some strawberry sauce on top. These treats were so delicious that everyone is already requesting for me to make them again.

This funnel cake recipe was absolutely fantastic! I added a little extra flour, about 2-4 tbsp, at the end and it turned out perfect. I will definitely be making it again!

Absolutely delicious! I adjusted the oil to around 375 degrees and used a bit less vanilla. My friends can't get enough of these and always ask me to make them!

These turned out amazing! It took some practice to perfect the size of the batter stream, but they fried up beautifully. I opted for peanut oil due to its high smoke point, and I easily flipped them by dragging a skewer across the pan, flipping and stretching them back out. Absolutely delicious!
