One-Pot Tortellini and Sausage Recipe
Ingredients
This recipe yields 4 servings.
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 pound spicy Italian sausage, casings removed, crumbled
- 3 cups spaghetti sauce
- cup water
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 (20 ounce) package fresh cheese tortellini
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese
- cup grated Parmesan cheese
Directions
Step 1: Heat the olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add the crumbled sausage and cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and no longer pink, about 5 to 10 minutes.
Step 2: Stir in the spaghetti sauce, water, and Italian seasoning. Add the tortellini to the skillet and mix well.
Step 3: Bring the liquid in the skillet to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the skillet and simmer for about 8 minutes, or until the tortellini are tender.
Step 4: Position an oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source and preheat the ovens broiler to low.
Step 5: Remove the skillet from the heat and sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses over the tortellini.
Step 6: Place the skillet under the broiler and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Cook's Note: If you prefer not to broil, you can simply cover the skillet and let the residual heat from the pasta melt the cheese.
