Cola-Glazed Ham Recipe
This cola-glazed ham is a sweet and savory dish perfect for special occasions. The glaze, made from brown sugar and cola, creates a rich, caramelized coating that complements the tender ham. Follow the simple steps below for a mouth-watering result.
Ingredients
- 1 (8 pound) baked ham
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 (12 fluid ounce) cans or bottles cola-flavored carbonated beverage
Directions
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 300F (150C). Line a 9x13-inch baking pan with aluminum foil, ensuring it's large enough to accommodate the ham comfortably. Place the ham in the prepared pan.
Step 2: In a bowl, combine the brown sugar with just enough cola to dissolve the sugar, creating a thick glaze. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
Step 3: Pour the glaze evenly over the ham, ensuring it is well-coated. Then, pour the remaining cola into the bottom of the baking pan.
Step 4: Place the ham in the preheated oven. Bake for 2 hours, occasionally basting the ham with the glaze from the pan to keep it moist and flavorful.
Step 5: To check for doneness, insert an instant-read thermometer into the center of the ham. The internal temperature should read at least 145F (63C).
Step 6: Once the ham is cooked, transfer it to a serving platter and cover loosely with aluminum foil. Let it rest for up to 30 minutes before slicing and serving.
