Warm Lemon, Honey, and Ginger Soother Recipe

Warm Lemon, Honey, and Ginger Soother Recipe

This refreshing and soothing tea is perfect for any time of the day. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a comforting drink that warms you from the inside out.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup honey, or to taste
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1 tablespoon finely grated ginger root
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 1/2 cups boiling water

Directions

  1. Gather all your ingredients and make sure you have everything ready to go.
  2. Boil the water in a kettle or saucepan.
  3. In a teapot or a 4-cup glass measuring beaker, add honey, lemon juice, grated ginger, and cinnamon.
  4. Once the water has boiled, carefully pour it over the mixture in the teapot.
  5. Stir the contents to ensure the honey dissolves completely.
  6. Cover the teapot and let the mixture steep for about 5 minutes.
  7. The ginger will naturally sink to the bottom, but if you prefer, you can strain the tea while pouring it into a mug.

Recipe Tip

Peel the ginger root before grating it, as the skin can sometimes add a bitter flavor to the tea.

This was pleasantly delicious and soothing. At first it did not seem to appetizing but I was glad I made it. I do not have a cold but was looking for something soothing. I scaled the recipe back to serve 1, and as suggested I used 1 tablespoon of honey and fresh finenely grated ginger. I did not strain the mixture. Definitely will be making this again. Thank you!

I add chopped garlic to mine if I feel I need that extra bit of something. Also I let mine cool a bit before I add the honey. When traveling I use dehydrated lemon juice and powdered ginger mixed with honey. A partial spoonful is surprisingly refreshing and soothing at the same time. The mix ensures I have what I know works and is much easier when traveling than fresh lemons and ginger.

Families fighting the flu here. Used two lemons. Maybe because they were small. Dissolved a couple zinc lozenges, added Bourbon/Whiskey to individual serving and “Bam” my Big Mama’s Hot Toddy!!!

Super simple when you are not feeling well and don’t have the energy for anything beyond simple. Tastes AMAZING! I put the chopped ginger in my loose tea diffuser, so I wouldn’t have to strain it out. I will definitely be making this over and over again.

I like it a lot. I added a tad more fresh, grated ginger root and more fresh lemon juice. Its going to be our new winter and fall drink. We will even try the fresh orange juice and probably ice it in the hot summer and spring months.

I love this I make it all the time especially when I'm sick, however Honey looses some of it's nutrients if the water Temperature is over 70C and metal spoons also kills nutrients in the honey too.

Absolutely amazing! My new favorite tea! We used 4 decaffeinated green tea bags and 4 cups of water for 4 people. Otherwise kept everything the same. My husband and kids loved it as well. I will be making this regularly for thr health benefits and flavor. I could see this being good cold as well.

I doubled the recipe but not the honey (I used raw). To me it tastes like a hot cider w/o the apples. I have a cold so this is the yummiest way to lick it. Highly recommended.

Loved this! Such a healthy alternative to soda and caffeinated drinks! I drank it iced and left out the cinnamon.

Tastes just like the ginger tea at a favorite restaurant (without the cinnamon, but it's great with the cinnamon also

Cinnamon made it a big difference. I should experiment tweaking tastes.

I'll probably add things like cucumber, lime (small amount), onion red, sweet & possibly yellow) ! I may even occasionally add sum real vanilla extract. Thank you!

Hi, I grated the lemon also, I'm thinking a drop of JD Honey for a nice cheeky nightcap 😁👍
