Crescent Roll Lasagna Recipe
Ingredients
This recipe was developed at its original yield. Ingredient amounts are automatically adjusted, but cooking times and steps remain unchanged. Note that not all recipes scale perfectly.
Original recipe (1X) yields 6 servings
- 8 ounces ground beef
- 8 ounces bulk pork sausage
- 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
- cup chopped onion
- 1 tablespoon dried parsley
- clove garlic, minced
- teaspoon dried basil
- teaspoon dried oregano
- teaspoon salt
- 1 dash ground black pepper
- 1 cup creamed cottage cheese
- cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- 2 (8 ounce) packages refrigerated crescent rolls
- 2 slices mozzarella cheese
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Directions
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 375F (190C).
Step 2: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and sausage. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 to 7 minutes until browned and crumbly. Drain any excess grease.
Step 3: Add the tomato paste, chopped onion, parsley, minced garlic, basil, oregano, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Simmer the mixture uncovered for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 4: In a separate bowl, combine the creamed cottage cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, and egg. Mix well.
Step 5: Unroll one can of crescent rolls on an ungreased 15x13-inch cookie sheet. Press the edges together to seal the dough into one sheet.
Step 6: Spread half of the meat mixture evenly over the crescent dough, leaving about an inch from the edge of the dough. Then, spread the cottage cheese mixture on top of the meat mixture.
Step 7: Carefully spoon the remaining meat mixture on top of the cottage cheese layer. Place mozzarella cheese slices over the meat mixture.
Step 8: Unroll the second can of crescent rolls and place it over the top of the filled dough, overlapping the edges by about inch. Pinch the edges together to seal and prevent any filling from leaking out.
Step 9: Brush the top of the dough with milk and sprinkle sesame seeds evenly over it.
Step 10: Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown.
Cook's Notes
- You can substitute 3 tablespoons of minced dried onion for the chopped fresh onion.
- Use mozzarella slices that are about 4x7 inches in size.
