Pear and Prosciutto Pizza Recipe

Pear and Prosciutto Pizza Recipe

Cook Time: 45 minutes

Ingredients

  • 6 cloves garlic
  • tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 ripe pears, halved and cored
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • All-purpose flour for dusting
  • 1 unbaked pizza crust
  • 1 tablespoon cornmeal for dusting
  • 6 ounces shredded Swiss cheese
  • 5 thin slices prosciutto, cut into halves
  • 1 (6 ounce) package fresh mozzarella, cut into small cubes
  • Salt and ground black pepper to taste

Directions

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 375F (190C). Take a small square of aluminum foil and place the garlic cloves in the center. Drizzle with tablespoon of olive oil, then wrap the foil around the garlic to seal it.

Step 2: Roast the garlic in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until soft. Once roasted, smash the garlic cloves with a fork.

Step 3: Place the pear halves in a bowl and toss them with 1 tablespoon of olive oil to coat evenly. Arrange the pear slices on a baking sheet and bake in the hot oven for 10 to 15 minutes, until softened.

Step 4: Raise the oven temperature to 400F (200C). Preheat a pizza stone or baking sheet inside the oven.

Step 5: Lightly dust a flat surface with flour. Roll the pizza dough out on the surface, then transfer it onto a baking sheet that has been dusted with cornmeal.

Step 6: Spread the mashed garlic evenly across the dough, then top with shredded Swiss cheese.

Step 7: Arrange the roasted pear slices, prosciutto, and small cubes of mozzarella cheese on top of the pizza. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Step 8: Brush the edges of the crust with the remaining tablespoon of olive oil.

Step 9: Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the crust is golden brown.
