Light and Crispy Fried Halibut Recipe

Cook Time: 10 minutes

This crispy fried halibut is easy to make and absolutely delicious! The combination of panko and seasoned breadcrumbs gives the fish an irresistibly crunchy texture, while the delicate halibut stays moist and tender inside. Heres how to make it!

Ingredients

  • Oil for frying
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • (8 ounce) package panko bread crumbs
  • cup seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1 pound halibut, cut into 2-inch squares

Directions

  1. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large saucepan to 350F (175C).
  2. In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and flour until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, stir together the panko bread crumbs and seasoned bread crumbs.
  4. Take each piece of halibut and gently dip it into the egg mixture, ensuring its coated on all sides.
  5. Next, press the dipped halibut into the breadcrumb mixture, coating both sides well. Place the breaded halibut on a plate. Repeat this process for all the pieces of halibut.
  6. Carefully lower the breaded halibut into the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy on the outside, about 4 to 5 minutes.
  7. Use a slotted spoon to remove the fish from the oil and transfer it to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  8. Repeat the frying process with the remaining halibut pieces.
  9. Once all the fish is fried, serve hot and enjoy!
