Cook Time: 10 minutes

Green bean recipes are perfect for quick and delicious side dishes. They require minimal preparation and cook time, making them ideal for busy weeknights or family meals. This simple garlic green bean recipe takes just 5 minutes to prep, 10 minutes to cook, and is ready in only 15 minutes. With rave reviews from home cooks, it's a go-to favorite.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed and snapped in half
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon lemon-pepper seasoning (or more to taste)
  • Salt to taste

Instructions:

Step 1: Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the green beans and cook for 3 to 5 minutes, or until they start to soften but are still slightly crisp. Drain the beans and set them aside.

Step 2: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the butter and allow it to melt, swirling it around the pan to coat the bottom.

Step 3: Add the minced garlic to the skillet and saut for 1 to 2 minutes until fragrant and tender, being careful not to burn the garlic.

Step 4: Return the drained green beans to the skillet. Stir them gently to coat them with the garlic butter and cook for an additional 1 to 2 minutes.

Step 5: Season the green beans with lemon-pepper seasoning and salt to taste. Toss to combine and serve immediately.

How to Trim Fresh Green Beans Quickly:

Trimming green beans doesn't have to be a tedious task. Here's a quick method to get it done:

  1. Place the green beans on your cutting board, aligning the tips evenly.
  2. Using a sharp chefs knife or paring knife, slice off the tips in one quick motion.
  3. Flip the beans and realign them, then cut off the other ends in the same way.
  4. If you prefer shorter beans, simply cut them in half or to your desired length.

For this recipe, cutting the beans in half is all you need to do. Its quick, easy, and perfect for a buttery garlic finish!

This is one of my most favorite ways to make green beans. I like to add a little finely minced onion to the skillet with the garlic as well. I usually double this recipe because my family inhales it.

Great base recipe for fresh green beans; the simmer, drain, saute method helps maintain crispness and color. Started garlic in the butter before adding beans back in. Subbed fresh cracked black pepper and juice of one small lemon at the end instead of dry mix, and it was phenomenal!

1.19.22 Looks like this recipe has been around for a while, and I don’t know how I’ve missed it. I steamed the green beans in the microwave for 2-1/2 minutes, and then moved them to a skillet with a little bit of melted butter. I added some sliced onion sautéed along with the green beans, added some garlic paste from the tube (Gourmet Garden®), some freshly-ground black pepper, and a healthy sprinkle of lemon pepper. Wow, so simple and yet soooo delicious. I foresee this on the dinner menu often in the future, thoroughly enjoyed!

I made these for Thanksgiving. The day before I parboiled the beans for 5 minutes, then cooled them by flushing with cold water & put them in the fridge. On Thanksgiving, I sauteed the beans with butter then added the garlic and cooked til fragrant. Super easy & super yummy!

Def a great base! I added an extra tablespoon of butter and doubled the garlic. I also made my own lemon pepper by toasting together some lemon zest, crushed black pepper, and kosher salt. I used a LOT more than a pinch! I also melted the butter down and cooked the garlic a bit before adding the green beans! So good!

I Boiled the GreenBeans in some Chicken bouillon until tender. Then drained, added the butter and the garlic, sauteed for 5-10 mins and added some lemon pepper seasoning. Wonderful! Excellent Flavor.

This was the last ditch effort to get my three kids to eat green beans. Keep in mind that the oldest is 18. They inhaled them at dinner tonight. So my little one hates tater tots, another of tonight's sides. So I used the left over butter, garlic, lemon sauce from the beans as a pasta sauce. I tossed a handful of cappelletti in the bean water, and finished it in the bean sauce with a bit of locatelli. They all loved that too! Now they want me to plant green beans in the garden this summer. Thanks for a great recipe!

I would suggest making a beurre monté which is an emulsion of 3 parts water to 8 parts butter. This will coat the beans rather than just the butter running off. In this recipe remove the green beans, retain a little more than 1 Tbsp of the water (or just add water to the drained pan). Bring it to a boil, add garlic then whisk in the butter 1 Tbsp at a time, season and return the beans and toss to coat.

I liked this, as did the 14 other people at the Valentine's dinner I just came home from. Steamed the beans to the desired degree of crunch, washed under cold water, then put into the pan with the topping. Didn't have lemon pepper so used a bit of lime zest and lime juice. Really good.

This will be the only way I make fresh green beans. I used lemon olive oil and garlic paste instead of butter and fresh garlic (to save time). Just so easy and delicious!

I loved these. Im from the south and we normally season with bacon or ham and cook till tender but wanted a more fresh tasting dish. I did add a 1/4 cup chicken stock to cook down and cut the butter in half . This with mashed potatoes could by my mani meal! Excellent

Delish! I reduced butter by half, and steamed the beans rather than boiled, as some reviewers suggested. I just covered the bottom of the pan about 1/2 inch and steamed them for about 3 minutes. btw if your beans were mushy at the end of this recipe then you cooked them WAAAAY too long!

My husband and I loved this simple but tasty recipe! Hubby said he could eat these 2 or 3 times a week easily. I did make a few small changes. Firstly, cut back a little bit in the butter. They were still very buttery! Secondly, I added walnuts for a nutty twist that adds some good omegas and lastly I added a the juice of half a lemon and cracked black pepper at the end before serving it up instead of lemon pepper. Served it with a baked sweet potato. Simple weeknight meal!

In the future, I may add toasted, sliced almonds, but it is great without the addition.

Tried this last night and they were wonderful! What a nice surprise. I would have never thought of adding lemon. However, I didn't have any lemon pepper seasoning, so I just used 2 teaspoons of fresh lemon juice and a little zest. I added the lemon towards the end and finished with the parm cheese. Wonderful!
