Grilled Bok Choy Recipe

Grilled Bok Choy Recipe

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 (2-pound) head of bok choy
  • cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 1 teaspoons ground black pepper, divided
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt (such as Lawry's)

Directions

  1. Preheat an outdoor grill to medium-high heat and lightly oil the grate.
  2. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, garlic powder, paprika, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper. Set the mixture aside.
  3. Slice the bottom off the bok choy head. Remove and clean the stalks thoroughly.
  4. Sprinkle seasoned salt and the remaining 1 teaspoon of black pepper evenly over both sides of the bok choy stalks.
  5. Place the bok choy on the preheated grill. Brush the stalks with the seasoned butter mixture, close the grill lid, and cook for 3-4 minutes, until grill marks appear on the stalks and the leaves are crispy at the edges.
  6. Turn the bok choy over, brush with the remaining butter mixture, close the grill lid, and cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes.
  7. Once cooked, brush any remaining butter mixture over the bok choy and transfer to a serving platter.

Recipe Tip

You can also make this dish indoors by using a large skillet. Cook a few stalks at a time, although the leaves may not become as crispy as they would on the grill, the taste remains delicious.

This was just the culinary adjustment I needed for cooking these vegetables. I struggled with using the basting brush on the leaves while grilling, so I opted to combine everything in a covered bowl and shake it all up. This method worked perfectly and required less effort. I paired the veggies with hamburgers and hot dogs. Delicious!

My husband absolutely adored this dish, and he hardly ever eats vegetables. It's such a wonderful feeling to have another veggie recipe to add to our rotation. I tried making it two ways - with olive oil for one batch and butter for the other. Both turned out fantastic. I took the advice to toss everything in a bowl and coat the leaves first, which saved me from having to baste in low lighting. This recipe is definitely a keeper, and I will be making it again for sure.

I was blown away by how delicious this dish turned out! I placed the bok choy in a grilling basket and continuously stirred and basted it with the seasoned butter while it cooked on the grill. This method also helped save space on the grill.

Super fast and effortless. I grilled it right after removing the meat from the grill. The flavor and texture were fantastic.

I really enjoyed grilling bok choy. It elevates the flavor to a whole new level. I used 12 baby bok choys and thought that using the full amount of butter would be too rich, so I opted for just 1 tablespoon of butter and 1 tablespoon of avocado oil. I followed the recipe closely, except for adding some extra pepper. I will definitely be grilling bok choy again, but I plan to experiment with different flavors. Thanks for the inspiration!
