Easy Baked Chicken Drumsticks
Ingredients
- cup extra-virgin olive oil, divided
- 6 (4 ounce) bone-in chicken drumsticks, with skin
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1 pinch garlic salt, or to taste
- 1 pinch seasoned salt, or to taste
- Salt and ground black pepper to taste
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 375F (190C). Line a glass or ceramic baking dish with foil.
- Spread cup of olive oil on the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Arrange the chicken drumsticks in a single layer, alternating their directions to fit.
- Top each drumstick with 1 tablespoon of butter. Sprinkle with garlic salt, seasoned salt, salt, and black pepper to taste.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes.
- Brush the remaining cup of olive oil over the chicken. Continue baking for an additional 10 to 15 minutes, or until the chicken is no longer pink and the juices run clear.
- To check doneness, insert an instant-read thermometer into the thickest part of the chicken near the bone. The temperature should read 165F (74C).

I didn't add more oil after 35 min but used the butter oil in the pan. I turned over the chicken and seasoned that side and turned up the heat to 425. It had a good flavor and was moist and juicy.

I'm usually a stickler for going exactly by a recipe unless there's a glaring problem in the reviews. But, with this recipe I wondered about using three types of salt, so I swapped out the garlic salt for garlic powder. I also decided to throw in some cayenne pepper. Oh, and I also took the suggestion of one reviewer to flip the chicken and seasoning the other side instead of putting on more olive oil. These things worked out very well! The salt was just right for us and the hint of cayenne just elevated things a bit. They turned out very nice. I'm definitely keeping this in our rotation. Thank you for the recipe!

This chicken was so easy to make. Very much like roasting a whole chicken (same ingredients). I will definitely make it this way again.

I love the simplicity of this recipe. I was crunched for time and had a pack of Chicken legs that I didn't want to waste. This will be my go to when I have legs available to me. Quick, Easy and above all GREAT With quinoa Roman

I followed directions to a T. It’s tasteless and very greasy. I wish it had been much better as I do not like giving bad reviews. Very disappointed
