This dish truly hit the spot as one of the most comforting meals I've ever savored. It evoked memories of a Christmas feast lovingly prepared by a mother or grandmother. Taking into account feedback from other cooks, I made a few adjustments: I included a clove of minced garlic and a tablespoon of flour for thickening right after searing the steak to medium well. I also dialed back the sugar to just a pinch, and cut the meat into bite-sized chunks coated with a rub of olive oil and peppercorn salt. Opting for one yellow and one red bell pepper was perfect. To intensify the flavors, I uncovered the pot for the final 15 minutes of cooking. The recipe suggests an hour of simmering, which turned out to be just right for the steak to tenderize beautifully. Serving it over creamy mashed potatoes with a side of crusty Italian bread and butter was an absolute delight. I'm thrilled I took a chance on this pepper steak recipe, as it now has the potential to become a cherished tradition in my household. It was simply heavenly!

Review rewritten: I absolutely adored this dish! I customized it by adding diced tomatoes and crafting my own thick gravy. For those unfamiliar with making gravy, here's what I did: after searing the meat (without cooking the onions alongside it), I took everything out of the skillet. I then added oil, onions, and flour to the pan, stirring constantly until the mixture browned. Next, I poured the natural juices from the steak into the pan while vigorously stirring. If you prefer a thinner gravy or just want more of it, you can add extra water to the mixture. After adding the veggies and meat back in, I finished cooking according to the instructions. The end result was exceptionally delicious!

I had been searching for this recipe for a long time. My mother used to prepare it, and I always enjoyed it. Since I didn't have round steak on hand, I used elk steak instead, and it turned out fantastic. I opted not to add any water and utilized the juice from the diced tomatoes I included. As the dish neared completion, I mixed in a tablespoon of flour to thicken the sauce and also threw in some garlic because I am a big fan of garlic.

I tried out this recipe with a few modifications. Firstly, I sautéed the peppers before anything else as they tend to take longer to cook. Once they were done, I set them aside and added chopped onions and three cloves of crushed garlic to the pan. Next, I included the meat, along with two beef bouillon cubes, a dash of Worcestershire sauce, and crushed tomatoes. The end result was a thick and flavorful dish that was absolutely delicious.

I enjoyed the tender and juicy meat. Next time, I'll skip the sugar and use two bell peppers instead of just one like this time.

This recipe was not very impressive. I had a feeling it might be bland just by looking at the ingredients, and indeed it was. I only included some garlic to try and enhance the flavor. However, for those who are new to cooking, it is a straightforward recipe to follow.
