5-Ingredient Easy Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients
  • 1 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions

Step 1: Gather all the ingredients needed for the recipe.

Step 2: Preheat your oven to 350F (175C).

Step 3: In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to beat together the brown sugar and softened butter until the mixture becomes light and fluffy in texture.

Step 4: Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

Step 5: Gradually stir in the all-purpose flour until fully combined. Be sure to fold in the chocolate chips at the end.

Step 6: Scoop the dough onto a baking sheet, spacing each scoop about 2 inches apart to allow for spreading while baking.

Step 7: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the cookies for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the edges turn golden brown.

Recipe Tip

For an extra touch, save a few chocolate chips to press into the top of the dough scoops before baking. This will give your cookies a beautiful, signature chocolate chip look.

I made some adjustments by adding extra sugar, more butter, and a bit of baking powder. I also used 3 Hershey bars, resulting in a fluffy and cake-like texture. The kids absolutely adore them! I increased the sugar to a full cup, butter to a cup and a half, and added half a tablespoon of baking powder. 🍰🍫

Would I consider making these cookies again? Possibly. Were they my absolute favorite? Not quite! I decided to modify the recipe a bit. I opted for a smaller batch using 1.5 cups of all-purpose flour and 6 tablespoons of brown sugar (sifted finely). To this, I added 1 egg, room temperature butter, about a tablespoon of vanilla extract, and roughly 3/4 cup of chocolate chips. After mixing thoroughly, I formed the dough into balls and placed them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and a light coating of non-stick spray before chilling them in the freezer for 5 minutes. They then went into a preheated oven at 350°F, and I kept an eye on them, baking for about 15-18 minutes. Just before they were done, I pressed them down slightly as they were still in ball form. The texture turned out to be reminiscent of a cookie cake. A helpful tip: These cookies taste best when cooled! My modified version of the recipe yielded approximately 14-18 cookies, depending on the size of the dough balls.

I adjusted the original recipe by substituting 2 eggs with 1 banana (not overly ripe but still soft), and incorporated some vanilla extract based on suggestions from other reviewers who mentioned the recipe might lack flavor. I kept everything else the same, and this was the result: absolutely delectable! **I also chilled the dough in the freezer for approximately 5 minutes before baking, which worked wonders.**

I enjoyed this recipe, but what took it to the next level was the addition of half a teaspoon of vanilla extract.

I substituted granulated white sugar for brown sugar and it was fantastic! Definitely a recipe worth keeping. The flavor is amazing.

The only alteration I made was using margarine instead of butter.

I added one egg and one ripe banana, along with some vanilla, and followed the suggestion to place it in the freezer. The result was absolutely fantastic!

Easy to make and definitely worth the effort. One suggestion for improvement would be to include a reminder to use a larger bowl.
