Eggs with Gruyre and Parmesan Sauce

Ingredients

  • cup butter
  • cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups half-and-half
  • teaspoon salt
  • teaspoon ground black pepper
  • teaspoon garlic powder
  • teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyre cheese
  • 8 hard-boiled eggs, peeled and halved
  • cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350F (175C). Butter a 9-inch square baking dish.
  2. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Add flour and whisk continuously for about 2-3 minutes, until fully dissolved.
  3. Gradually add the half-and-half to the pan while whisking constantly. Continue to cook for about 5 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and become smooth.
  4. Season the sauce with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and dry mustard. Stir in the shredded Gruyre cheese until it melts and the sauce becomes silky.
  5. Arrange the hard-boiled egg halves, cut-side down, in the prepared baking dish.
