Directions

Step 1: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the cream cheese and sour cream. Microwave for about 30 seconds, or until the mixture is softened and easy to stir.

Step 2: Stir in the shredded Cheddar cheese until well combined. Microwave for another 30-40 seconds, or until the dip is smooth and heated through. Stir again.

Step 3: If needed, heat the dip for an additional 10 seconds, then stir again until completely smooth.

I made this recipe tonight. It certainly benefits from the additional optional ingredients. By itself, it's lacking in flavor, but it serves as a solid foundation. I incorporated buffalo sauce, blue cheese crumbles, and a sprinkle of seasoned salt to create a delicious buffalo-style cheese dip. Therefore, I've rated it 4 stars overall because it would be a 3 on its own, but with the added ingredients, it elevates to a 5-star dish.
