Sautéed Green Beans Recipe
This simple yet flavorful dish is perfect as a side for any meal. Its quick, easy, and can be made in just a few minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoons olive oil
- pound fresh green beans, trimmed
- teaspoon onion salt (or to taste)
- teaspoon garlic salt (or to taste)
- teaspoon garlic powder (or to taste)
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Directions
Step 1: Gather all ingredients and set them within reach to streamline the cooking process.
Step 2: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Let the oil warm up before adding the green beans.
Step 3: Once the oil is hot, add the fresh green beans, followed by the onion salt, garlic salt, garlic powder, and freshly ground black pepper. Stir everything well to coat the beans evenly with the seasonings.
Step 4: Continue to cook and stir the green beans for 5 to 10 minutes, or until they reach your desired level of tenderness. For a crisper texture, cook for less time; for softer beans, cook a bit longer.
Step 5: Once the beans are cooked to your liking, remove the skillet from heat. Serve immediately while hot and enjoy your delicious garlic green beans!
Cook's Note
This recipe works wonderfully with fresh asparagus as well, so feel free to swap the green beans for asparagus if you prefer.

I really liked how quick this was! I had fresh organic green beans with which to make a simple side dish. Came across this recipe and poured a swirl of extra virgin olive oil in the skillet and added about half a tablespoon of butter and, then, the green beans. Stirred until coated and added similar seasonings (I used an all purpose seasoning sold by U.S. Wellness Meats, that is made in St Louis.) Turned to coat the green beans and periodically turned again in the skillet. I didn't time it, but, checked with a fork until done to my liking. They were great this way! Will make again!

These are amazing - the only cooked green beans my husband will eat! He just said “wow, those are so good we don’t need any fries with our dinner!” I recommend steaming in the microwave to nearly the desired doneness then sauté for 2-3 minutes with the spices as listed at medium-high heat. (We like them al dente so we only steamed for two minutes.) Yumm!!!

Hubby doesn't eat many vegetables but fresh green beans he loves. This recipe got me to them green beans. I reduced the olive oil by a half tablespoon and added that difference with butter, used garlic and onion powder (instead of onion and garlic salt), salt and pepper to taste. I also sliced 4 large cloves of garlic in half and threw those in. Cooked all on medium heat in a cast iron skillet stirring frequently to keep from sticking to pot and OMG it was outstanding. Thank you for this recipe.

I used this general idea to come up with a recipe for myself. They turned out AMAZING and my whole family loved them!! I started with olive oil and added one tablespoon of butter for extra flavor. I then tossed in the green beans that is torn the ends off of, and turned it on medium low (4 on my gas stove). Next I started adding the seasoning. I started with about 4 tablespoons of Everything bagel seasoning. I then added 1-1.5 tablespoons of garlic powder and onion powder. I don’t use garlic or onion SALT, bc I want to be able to use as much of the seasoning as I want without adding a ton of salt. Next I added approximately 2 teaspoons of smoked paprika. Finally I sprinkles about 1.25 tsp of kosher salt across all of it and mixed it well. I let it cook as it was while stirring every minute or so for about 5 mins. Then I added about 2/3 c. water and threw a lid on it and left it alone. I let cook just sitting there, not stirring it, for 5-6 minutes. Next I pulled the lid off off and made sure everything was well coated, stirring everything several times to spread the seasoning on EVERYTHING. All the water was cooked out. I turned off the heat, played it all up, and it was a winner across the board!! Kids and hubby!! I know I basically created my own recipe but I used this to help me create my own so thank to the creator of this!! My version is a bit inner at home and I can’t wait to share it with friends!!

I changed it up a bit second time around. I melted 2 TBLS butter. Added 1 pound of washed and dry snaps. Added fresh sweet onion slices to taste, and a LOT of lemon pepper seasoning. Cook on a high heat until hot and still crispy (maybe 10 minutes) turning periodically to coat well and then add course kosher salt to taste. Enjoy!

I didn't have any garlic salt or powder. I did use one big garlic clove and about a pinch of salt, black pepper, onion powder and EVOO... sautéed in the pan for about 5 mins the coveted for about another 5-8 mins. Sooooo good! Everyone loves them. Will definitely make again!

I made this with some alterations per other reviewers. I steamed the beans 2 min 30 sec prior to putting them in the pan. My seasonings were onion powder garlic powder, salt and pepper (I couldn't find the other seasonings in the recipe). I also used avocado oil instead of olive oil because of an allergy. I sauteed for about 3 minutes. The beans have a nice little crunch and a nice little kick. I am batch cooking for the week and may not have any of the beans left because I keep snacking on them!

Great recipe, however we everything was to dry in the pan, and after 6 minutes the beans were still raw and salty. I poured about a cup of water in, which perfectly steamed them to crisp after 5 more minutes. The water helped to dilute the saltiness as well.

Hubby and I enjoyed. I've made fresh green beans many times and this was as easy as any. I stayed pretty true to the recipe: I used butter in addition to oil, used garlic powder, onion powder and a bit of salt. I would like to suggest to people that they allow the green beans to brown (or blister) a bit. It enhances the flavor and in so doing, it cooks the beans more. That way they won't be too firm, but just right. (Once they are browned, you can even cover the pan and let them continue softening up a bit more if you choose. )

So my Family calls these Catering Beans cause you seem to get them at catering events like Weddings. I have made these many different ways but the best I have done is. If I have a few slices of bacon, chop it up and omit the Olive Oil and cook in the bacon grease (may need to take some out). As far as seasoning I just use a little pepper. Other thing that makes these awesome is as the beans get to the desired doneness. I add a handful of Cranrasins and slivered almonds. That is what brings it to the Catering beans - Fancy. We keep the almonds and cranrasin in the freezer and pull them out for this when needed. We have this about 2 a month or more. They are very good without the bacon and olive oil so you don't have to go get bacon special. But I like bacon so if I can find a way to include it I will :)

Wow. All I can say is WOW! The last time I had green beans they either came in a frozen square or a casserole! This is my first time making fresh green beans. They were delicious! I followed the recipe pretty closely adding fresh garlic cause I have tons of it! And adding butter with the olive oil like someone else suggested. Yum! First I warmed the skillet with olive oil and butter. While that was heating I cut the tips/end of each green bean(GB) then cut them in half and cleaned them. Second I threw the thinly sliced garlic in the pan then the GBs then the seasonings. Covered and stirred every 10 min until our desired firmness. Per my hubby "2 thumbs up and definitely make again!" :) Ok so maybe I had more to say than just "wow"

I think the key to this recipe is very fresh young green beans. The first time I made it it was perfect, this time the snipped green beans had been in the fridge longer, and were tough and chewy. I usually buy snipped green beans from Aldi. Next time I’ll use the the day of purchase. Seasoning and searing them until they blister makes them very tasty.

No blanching required! This was really easy to make and quite flavorful. I didn't have onion salt, so used onion powder instead. I also used jarred chopped garlic instead of the garlic powder. And a swirl of EVOO mixed with a little butter. The whole family liked it, even my super picky eater.

We loved them! I sautéed beans in olive oil with minced garlic, dried onions, salt and pepper. Definitely had to add a little bit of water.

I added a tablespoon of water and stirred every once in a while. It took longer than 5 minutes to cook to my taste (over 10), but loved the flavors! Next time I think I’ll use fresh minced garlic instead of the powder. So easy to make. I appreciate you putting up this recipe. Now I can cook my asparagus this way as well!
