Grilled Artichokes Recipes
Grilled artichokes are tender, flavorful, and make for the perfect side dish during summer. This recipe is simple and easy to follow, offering a wonderful combination of flavors that complement any grilling menu.
Ingredients
- 1 lemon, quartered
- 2 large artichokes
- cup olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- teaspoon ground black pepper
Directions
Step 1: Gather all the ingredients. Fill a large bowl with cold water and squeeze the juice from one lemon wedge into the water to prevent the artichokes from turning brown.
Step 2: Trim the tops and stems of the artichokes. Cut them in half from top to bottom and scoop out the choke. Immediately place the artichoke halves in the bowl of lemon water.
Step 3: Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the artichokes and cook them for about 15 minutes, or until they become tender. Drain them well.
Step 4: While the artichokes are boiling, preheat your outdoor grill to medium-high heat.
Step 5: For the basting sauce, squeeze the remaining lemon wedges into a medium bowl. Add the olive oil, chopped garlic, salt, and black pepper. Stir everything together to create a flavorful sauce.
Step 6: Brush the boiled artichokes with a generous coating of the lemon-garlic dipping sauce.
Step 7: Place the artichokes on the preheated grill and cook, turning frequently and basting with more sauce. Grill for 5-10 minutes, or until the tips of the artichokes are slightly charred.
Step 8: Once the artichokes are nicely charred, remove them from the grill and serve immediately with the remaining lemon-garlic dipping sauce.

Absolutely delicious! As many others have mentioned, it's essential to remove the choke before cooking. There are plenty of useful videos and guides available online if you're unsure how to do it. Instead of boiling, I opted to steam the artichokes in my pressure cooker for 6 minutes. While oiling the artichokes, I took care to separate the leaves to ensure every part was coated. After grilling them cut side down for about 4-5 minutes, I flipped them over, brushed on more oil, and cooked them for an additional 4-5 minutes. Just be cautious of any flare-ups while grilling! I will definitely be making these again!

Outstanding! Just like many other reviewers mentioned, remember to remove the choke. I cleaned, trimmed, and halved the artichokes, making sure to remove the chokes. After boiling them for 20 minutes, I placed them in an iced water bath to cool down, then easily removed the chokes. I brushed them with some marinade and let them marinate in the fridge for about 30-40 minutes. Grilling them until charred, basting as recommended, and adding a sprinkle of extra salt and pepper right before serving made them truly delicious!

The dish was absolutely delicious and so convenient! My only small critique is that the recipe forgets to mention the need to remove the hairy part from the center after grilling. I would also suggest trying a different dipping sauce, perhaps a blend of horseradish, dill, and cream.

This recipe is absolutely delightful! We found that the artichokes could have been boiled for a little less time, and we decided to include extra garlic. The outcome was simply fantastic!
