Excellent Salad that brought rave reviews. Per others suggestions, I decreased the sugar by half. I only had red wine vinegar, so I used that. Dressing was tasty with just the right amount of sweetness for the salad. I served the dressing on the side. I added mandarin oranges, red onion and pecans!!!! Great salad!!!! Thanks Jerry. Update: I tried the dressing with the raspberry balsamic vinegar and it was wonderful. I did increase the vinegar to a half cup and reduced the sugar in half. I think it could have used more sugar, but it was still a wonderful dressing and salad. I continue to add mandarin oranges, pecans and red onions. Great Salad!!!

I have made this for years and it is always a huge hit. For the dressing I use 1/4 cup oil, 2 T. sugar, 2 T. vinegar, 1/2 t. salt, and ground red pepper to taste. I often add mandarin oranges and fresh blueberries. Sugared almonds are a great addition as well. Great with grilled steaks and chicken. Thanks for all the great ideas for other variations!

Just made this salad for a dinner party and it was a huge hit! I will make this salad all the time now. I also halved the sugar like others recommended and substituted Raspberry Balsamic Vinegar for White Vinegar. Also, left out the seeds(I couldn't find them in the store) and used sliced almonds. Delicious.

This is an excellent salad. Instead of regular vinegar I tried Balsamic vinegar and it turned out fantastic. Also the recipe doesn't tell you to let the dressing refrigerate before serving. That is necessary to blend the flavors.

I love this recipe and have made it many times. This time, iused rice vinegar and added a strawberry. I use an immersion blender to mix. I made candied pecans in place of the seeds. Very delicious!

I had an abundance of strawberries from the garden this year and was looking for things to do with them. I was hesitant to make it because my husband and son are not salad people at all. However I figured "oh well more for me." Just like the other reviewers I was pleasantly surprised how much they loved it. My husband even went back for seconds! Following the advice of other reviewers, I also add red onion, crushed walnuts (pecans and almonds were also suggested) and topped it with blue cheese crumbles. Also I don't use vegetable oil so I substituted olive oil. I also couldn't find poppy seeds so I used chia seeds. It was delish! I recommend tossing in the dressing at the last minute and drizzling it on slowly for your desired coverage (I only ended up using half of it). This will definitely become a regular on our house!

Enjoyed this salad with the addition of sliced almonds and feta cheese. As many mentioned, too much sugar. I(I should have read the reviews first!). I tossed the dressing and started over with 1/2 the sugar. Everyone enjoyed. It was a hit!

Very tasty dish! Like others, I halved the sugar. Eat the whole thing while fresh because anything leftover will be very wilted.

My family really loved this salad. I omitted the sesame seeds, but I added mandarin orange slices and feta cheese crumbles. As has been mentioned before, I poured the dressing on just before serving, but only added half of the dressing, as that was plenty. Delicious!

We love this recipe, I made it exactly as stated, the next time I decided to go all in, and I used olive oil for the oil, and added the following to the recipe, arugula, fresh minced garlic mandarin oranges, grapefruit slices, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, pine nuts, walnut's, pecans, fresh shrimp. It was amazing! I also made a triple batch of the dressing to use for more salads the rest of the week. I’m in love with this dressing! I don’t mind the sugar as a matter of fact I loved the sweetness. I’m going to try raw sugar next time

Tweaks involved (disclaimer). I made this without the seeds and sugar and I used balsamic vinegar, added blue cheese crumbles. It was really good and because the berries were sweet enough, the salad was sweet enough for sure. It was delish!

Easy to make. I used less sugar in the dressing and sliced almonds instead of the seeds. I also added mandarin oranges which added a nice color and flavor. Served this dish to friends at dinner and it was a hit!

I made this recipe for the first time for 65 people!!!! I multiplied all the ingredients by 8, (8 x 8=64) and used 2 giant pots to make each set of 30ish ingredients. with gloves we dished out the bowls by hand. The salad looked greasy to me; but it wasn't. At the end I sprinkled cut up pecans. It was a hit! I got several requests for the recipe and I loved the sweet sour taste. I look forward to making it for 8! Thank you for a great salad!

I made this for my husband who won't eat spinach... he ate the spinach. In fact he ate the whole salad and I didn't get a single bite. Only change I made was a little more vinegar. Perfect recipe. The absolute best.
