Grilled Sausages with Prunes and Bacon Recipe

Ingredients

  • 6 fresh bratwurst sausages
  • 18 pitted prunes
  • 6 slices bacon
  • 12 toothpicks
  • 6 bratwurst buns

Directions

Step 1: Prick the casing of each sausage in a few places to prevent them from bursting. Place the sausages in a pot, cover with water, and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

Step 2: Reduce the heat to medium and simmer the sausages for 8 minutes. Remove from the pot and set aside to cool.

Step 3: Soak the toothpicks in a small bowl of water for 10 minutes to prevent them from burning on the grill.

Step 4: Slice each sausage halfway through along the long side. Stuff 3 prunes into the opening of each sausage.

Step 5: Wrap a slice of bacon around each sausage in a spiral pattern and secure the bacon with two toothpicks at each end.

Step 6: Repeat the process with all 6 sausages.

Step 7: Preheat your outdoor grill to medium-high heat.

Step 8: Place the prepared sausages onto the grill. Cook, turning once, until they reach your desired level of doneness and the bacon is browned.

Step 9: Serve the sausages on buns and top with your preferred condiments.
