Homemade Dog Food with Meat and Vegetables Recipe

Cook Time: 45 minutes

Ingredients

  • 3 sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into big chunks
  • 4 pounds boneless beef chuck roast, cut into large chunks
  • 2 pounds ground bison
  • 3 (15 ounce) cans carrots, drained
  • 3 (15 ounce) cans peas, drained
  • 2 (15 ounce) cans green beans, drained
  • 2 (13.5 ounce) cans spinach, drained
  • 6 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 1 (29 ounce) can pumpkin puree
  • cup extra-virgin olive oil

Directions

  1. Place sweet potatoes in a large Dutch oven, filling it about full with water. Bring to a boil and cook for 10 minutes.
  2. Add the chuck roast and ground bison to the pot. Continue cooking until the meat is no longer pink, around 10 to 12 minutes.
  3. Add the drained carrots, peas, green beans, and spinach to the pot. Cook over medium heat for 15 minutes.
  4. Stir in the oats and cook for an additional 5 to 7 minutes, until the mixture thickens.
  5. Mix in the pumpkin puree and olive oil. Remove the pot from heat and let the mixture cool for about 5 to 10 minutes.
  6. Transfer the roast to a plate, dice the meat, and return it to the pot. Use a potato masher to mash the mixture until it reaches a mushy consistency.
  7. Allow the mixture to cool sufficiently, about 30 minutes, before transferring it to resealable s.
  8. Freeze the mixture until ready to serve.
