Ingredients

- 1 pound lean ground beef
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 3 (15 ounce) cans dark red kidney beans
- 3 (14.5 ounce) cans Mexican-style stewed tomatoes
- 2 stalks celery, chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, chopped
- cup red wine vinegar
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 dash Worcestershire sauce
- cup red wine
Directions
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, stirring occasionally, until evenly browned, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain off any excess grease, then season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Transfer the browned beef to a slow cooker.
- Add the kidney beans, stewed tomatoes, chopped celery, bell pepper, and red wine vinegar to the slow cooker. Stir to combine all ingredients evenly.
- Season the mixture with chili powder, cumin, parsley, basil, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir again to evenly distribute the seasonings.
- Cover and cook on Low for 8 hours or High for 6 hours, stirring occasionally if desired. During the last 2 hours of cooking, pour in the red wine and mix well.
