No-Tomato Chili Recipe
Servings: 6 | Prep Time: 15 mins | Cook Time: 50 mins
Ingredients
- 2 pounds lean ground beef
- Salt to taste
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, seeded and chopped (Optional)
- 3 cloves garlic, pressed
- cup Worcestershire sauce
- 5 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 2 (12 ounce) bottles chili sauce
- 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 (15 ounce) can cannellini beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 (14 ounce) can beef broth
- 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
- cup chopped jalapeno pepper (Optional)
Directions
Step 1: In a large soup pot, crumble the ground beef and cook it over medium-high heat. Stir occasionally until the beef is browned. Drain any excess grease and season with salt to taste.
Step 2: Add the chopped onion, bell pepper (if using), and garlic to the pot. Cook and stir the mixture for about 3 minutes, or until the vegetables begin to soften.
Step 3: Reduce the heat to medium and add the Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, ground cumin, and dried oregano. Stir the ingredients together and let them cook for another 5 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.
Step 4: Lower the heat and stir in the chili sauce, kidney beans, cannellini beans, and beef broth. Once combined, cover the pot and let it simmer for about 35 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
Step 5: Once the chili has simmered, ladle it into serving bowls. Top each serving with a generous amount of shredded Cheddar cheese and, if desired, chopped jalapenos for added heat.
