Easy Lasagna with Uncooked Noodles Recipe
This recipe yields 8 servings of delicious homemade lasagna with layers of rich meat sauce, creamy cheese filling, and melty mozzarella. It's the perfect meal for family gatherings or cozy dinners.
Ingredients
Meat Sauce:
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 (4.5 ounce) can mushrooms, drained
- 1 (28 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
Cheese Filling:
- 1 (16 ounce) package cottage cheese
- 1 pint part-skim ricotta cheese
- 2 large eggs
- cup grated Parmesan cheese
Other:
- 1 (16 ounce) package lasagna noodles
- 8 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
Directions
Step 1: Gather all ingredients and preheat your oven to 350F (175C).
Step 2: Prepare the meat sauce. In a large skillet, heat over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and crumbly, about 5 to 7 minutes.
Step 3: Add the chopped onion and mushrooms to the skillet. Saut the mixture until the onions become translucent, about 3 minutes.
Step 4: Stir in the pasta sauce and continue to cook until heated through. Remove from heat and set aside.
Step 5: Prepare the cheese filling. In a medium bowl, combine the cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, eggs, and grated Parmesan. Mix until well combined. Set aside.
Step 6: Assemble the lasagna. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 13x9-inch baking dish.
Step 7: Layer the uncooked lasagna noodles over the meat sauce, followed by a layer of the cheese filling, mozzarella cheese, and more meat sauce. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, reserving cup of mozzarella for the top.
Step 8: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
Step 9: After 45 minutes, remove the foil and sprinkle the reserved mozzarella cheese over the top. Continue baking for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Step 10: Once baked, let the lasagna sit for 10 to 15 minutes before serving. This allows the layers to set and makes for easier slicing.
