Tangy Oven-Baked Chicken Tenders without Breading

Tangy Oven-Baked Chicken Tenders without Breading

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

This recipe was developed at its original yield. Ingredient amounts are automatically adjusted, but cooking times and steps remain unchanged. Note that not all recipes scale perfectly. Original recipe (1X) yields 4 servings.

  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • cup tomato-based chili sauce (such as Heinz)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon dried minced onion
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Sriracha sauce, or more to taste
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken tenders
  • medium lime, cut into 4 wedges

Directions

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 425F (220C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and lightly spray with nonstick spray.

Step 2: In a small bowl, combine the chili sauce, honey, lime juice, dried onion, brown sugar, garlic, and Sriracha. Let the sauce sit for 5 minutes to soften the dried onion slightly.

Step 3: Arrange the chicken tenders on the prepared baking sheet. Brush a thin coat of the sauce over the chicken.

Step 4: Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, remove from the oven and brush the remaining sauce over the chicken.

Step 5: Return the chicken to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the chicken is no longer pink in the center and the juices run clear. An instant-read thermometer should register at least 165F (74C) in the center.

Step 6: Serve the chicken with lime wedges on the side.

Cook's Notes

If you'd like the sauce to caramelize slightly, place the chicken under the broiler for a brief time, watching carefully to avoid burning. This recipe can also be adapted for an air fryer.

Wonderful dinner that was simple to prepare. Paired it with couscous and roasted corn from this website. Definitely adding this recipe to my collection.
