Fried Chicken Thighs Recipe

This classic recipe for crispy fried chicken thighs is easy to make and incredibly delicious. The key to the perfect fry is the seasoning mix and hot oil. Follow the steps below for a golden, crispy chicken every time.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup corn oil, or as needed
  • cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • teaspoon ground black pepper
  • teaspoon paprika
  • teaspoon garlic powder
  • 8 skinless chicken thighs

Directions

Step 1: Gather all the ingredients and ensure you have everything on hand.

Step 2: Heat the corn oil in a large, deep skillet over medium heat, bringing the temperature to 350F (175C).

Step 3: In a large resealable plastic bag, combine the flour, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Seal the bag and shake to mix everything thoroughly.

Step 4: Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels to remove any excess moisture. This will help the coating stick better.

Step 5: Add the chicken thighs to the seasoned flour mixture in the bag. Seal the bag and shake until the chicken is fully coated with the flour mixture.

Step 6: Once the oil reaches the right temperature, carefully add the chicken thighs to the skillet. Fry the chicken, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking. Fry for about 20 minutes or until the chicken is deep golden brown and crispy on the outside.

Step 7: Remove the chicken from the skillet and drain excess oil by placing it on a plate lined with paper towels.

Quick weeknight dinner. I doubled the flour mixture but not the salt; it came out without enough salt! I ate mine with ranch dressing. We liked it! Oh yeah, another thing - our chicken was boneless as well, so it had quite a bit of surface area and it wasn't as thick, so in 20 min it was quite ready... I took the first batch out after 16 min and finished it in a 350 degree oven turned down to 250. The chicken was done; we like our chicken well done!

Agree with most reviews. Doubled flour and all seasoning except salt. Could use a tad more salt with 1c flour. Gluten free flour worked great. Very delicious and crispy. Most importantly only fried for 15 minutes. Past that, they would’ve been burnt. Served w bbq sauce. But gravy and mashed potatoes would’ve been great!

This recipe was great!! I added Greek seasoning to the chicken and let it marinate for 20 minutes.

This chicken came out great!!! I added a little spin of my own to it. I squeezed the juice of 2 limes into a bowl dipped my chicken thighs in lime juice then in the flour mixture. I took the thighs out of flour mixture and let them sit for 5 minutes. Then dipped them in the lime juice and flour mixture a second time. They tasted so good. They came out great !!

Great recipe! The chicken cooked faster than anticipated (definitely less than 20 mins) so if you want yours to be as juicy as mine was, make sure you do not over cook. Just make sure you season the meat before coating with batter for more flavor. I used skinless chicken thighs the first time and chicken tenderloins the second. Thanks for the recipe.

I use this recipe but spray thighs with canola oil and air fry. Super fast and really good flavor. Made no substitutions or additions to the ingredients.

I did it exactly to recipe though I had to use vegetable instead of corn oil. My man loved it, and I enjoyed it too. Will do it again. :) Moist. 16 minutes instead of 20. Boneless and skinless is what I used. 1/2 cup flour was perfect. So, this was great and super easy. A "do-again" for sure! If u'r gonna eat something cooked in oil...com'on, don't chince on the salt.

Turned out great but 20 minutes is a tad too long for boneless, skinless chicken thighs. More like 15 minutes. I did as most everyone else & doubled all ingredients as I didn’t think a half cup of flour would go very far. I dropped them in flour first, then egg & then in the bag of flour. They had a great crust. Don’t turn too much or you’ll lose the tasty crust!! Family was pleased!!!

A little on the salty side. And I like salt. I doubled the recipe on the flower and stuff cause I didn't think 1/2 cup would coat 8 pieces of big thighs. So instead of 1 teaspoon of salt I doubled just like everything else. Well I should have put 1 1/2 teaspoon instead and it would have been perfect. Other than that is so easy and delicious.

It was simple and easy to follow. I only added one teaspoon of salt not two. I added other seasonings as well. Came out great!
