I thought these turned out delicious. However, due to previous reviews, I decided to add only 1/2 tsp of sugar to the mix, then added a few dashes of cumin and pepper. I agree that 2 Tb would be a bit much for the recipe. The cumin and pepper, and lowered sugar made this recipe a five star!

A tad too sweet and lacking in flavor, so back to the drawing board I went. Halved the sugar, added minced onion and garlic and subbed chicken broth for the water. The changes were minimal, but the finished product was much more appetizing. Thank you Stephndon for the recipe.

I chopped up a half a cup of onion and added that to the peas along with the butter. I added a teaspoon of garlic powder and a teaspoon of onion powder as per another reviewer. It was enjoyed by all! I plan to make it again!

I used fresh peas, and 1% milk cause that's what I had on hand. I boiled the peas for 5 min. in 2/3c. milk, then stirred in the butter and the other ingredients, substituting the 1% milk for the cream. I reduced sugar to 1 tsp. and added a hint of nutmeg. It thickened right away and was delicious. No need to use the higher fat cream called for in the recipe, unless you want it really rich in calories and fat:)

This is a great recipe. I made slivered sweet onions, sautéed in about 1 teaspoon butter, then set them aside.

My Father loves creamed peas & pearl onions. It used to be in the frozen vegetable section at the grocery store. Can't find it anymore. I omitted the sugar (peas sweet enough), sauteed frozen peas & pearl onions in bacon grease before adding remaining ingredients. It was the perfect!

This was my first attempt at creamed peas. I did read the reviews before I made them & individuals commented that they reduced the amount of sugar they used. When I made them I did cut the sugar in half and they turned out perfectly. My husband loved them. We will be making them on a regular basis!!!

I agree they were a tad too sweet for our taste but they were good nonetheless. I will give this recipe a thumbs up every time, if you want a more traditional gravy flavor make homemade white gravy Add peasto it with salt and pepper and onion of choice and it would be great The possibilities are endless to make these as great as you would like them to be, so don’t be afraid to go out there and try your own gravy or mix it up and put your own flair to it enjoy

Excellent recipe for a creamy base. Easy and fast! I do not let my peas sit plain in sauce though, adding a half cottage ham cubed, salt, pepper and stuffing into a pita makes for a whole meal. I made one batch and next time I will triple recipe....its that good!

This was a good base recipe that was easy to modify. I cut the sugar in half, as recommended by other reviewers. I also added some chopped onion, pepper and cumin. With the modifications, it was perfect.

This is an easy elegant recipe. Changes I made are: used half and half instead of cream, cut way back on sugar to 1 tsp. (plenty!), and crumbled bacon on top.I doubled the recipe for Easter, and nothing was left over. Nice change from the standard green bean casserole I normally made for holidays.

WAY too sweet. The slurry thicked up so much that it was more like paste. Reduce the sugar and the flour.

Can't say this is an incredible dish but this is a particular taste from my childhood I was looking for and this was just perfect
