Pressure Cooker Southern-Style Green Beans and Bacon Recipe
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Ingredients
- 3 slices bacon (or to taste), cut into 1-inch pieces
- cup diced onion (or to taste)
- 1 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed and halved
- 1 cup water
- 1 pinch garlic powder (or to taste)
- Salt and ground black pepper, to taste
Directions
- Place bacon pieces into a pressure cooker and cook over medium-high heat. Turn occasionally until the bacon is evenly browned, about 8 minutes.
- Add the diced onion and saut for 1 minute, stirring occasionally to combine with the bacon fat.
- Next, add the trimmed green beans to the cooker. Toss them well, ensuring they are coated in the bacon grease.
- Pour in 1 cup of water and stir to combine. This will help the green beans cook evenly in the pressure cooker.
- Secure the lid of the pressure cooker and place the pressure regulator over the vent, following the manufacturers instructions.
- Heat the pressure cooker until steam escapes in a steady flow, about 5 minutes.
- Once steam is flowing consistently, reduce the heat to medium-low and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- Let the pressure release naturally, which may take about 5 to 10 minutes, following the manufacturer's instructions.
- Unlock the lid carefully, remove it, and season the dish with garlic powder, salt, and pepper to taste.
- Serve hot and enjoy your flavorful green beans with bacon!

I absolutely adored it. It brought back memories of my mother and aunts' recipe. I decided to add extra bacon and onions, and it turned out fantastic.
