Creamy Baked Ziti

Creamy Baked Ziti

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 cups ziti pasta, uncooked
  • 1 (26 ounce) jar marinara sauce
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 6 ounces PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, cubed
  • cup BREAKSTONE'S or KNUDSEN Sour Cream
  • 1 (8 ounce) package KRAFT Shredded Mozzarella Cheese with a TOUCH OF PHILADELPHIA
  • cup KRAFT Grated Parmesan Cheese

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375F (190C).
  2. Cook the pasta according to the instructions on the package, but skip adding salt. Once done, drain the pasta and set it aside.
  3. In the same pan, add marinara sauce, diced tomatoes, and cubed cream cheese. Heat over medium heat for about 5 minutes or until the cream cheese melts completely and the mixture is well combined, stirring occasionally.
  4. Return the cooked pasta to the pan with the sauce mixture. Stir everything together until well mixed.
  5. In a 13x9-inch baking dish, spread half of the pasta mixture evenly across the bottom.
  6. Top with a layer of sour cream, followed by 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese, and then the remaining pasta mixture.
  7. Finish by sprinkling the remaining shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese on top.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the dish is heated through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

My whole family loved this, even my three picky kids! My husband said it tasted like a restaurant quality meal. The only thing I did differently was mixed the sour cream in with all the other ingredients rather than layer it. I also added about a dozen quartered meatballs. This is definitely a keeper!

I've made this quite a few times and the basic recipe is delicious. We like things a little fancier in our house, so I added a pound of Italian sausage, a diced onion, and 8 ounces of baby bella mushrooms. I also mix everything together and then top it with a bit more mozzarella instead of layering it. This recipe is pretty much foolproof.

I liked the idea of making the sauce creamy so tried this. Followed another reviewer's advice and just added the sour cream right into the sauce instead of layering. Cooked my pasta not quite al dente so they would finish up in the oven and hold their shape. Used my own pasta sauce and added a little browned, crumbled Italian sausage. Next time I would used more grated cheese, especially on top. Overall a good and easy baked pasta dish.

First time I made this I forgot to add the sour cream and accidentally used a 28 ounce can of diced tomatoes vs 14! It tasted okay but was under seasoned. Next time I skipped the sour cream, kept the 28 ounce canned tomatoes, added a package of dry Italian dressing mix and sauteed onion and garlic. It was fabulous---as good as a much more complicated recipe. We have this every week.

I’ve been making this for a few years exactly as written except I do add 1lb. of cooked Italian sausage and mix in the sour cream with the sauce. I layer in the mozzarella and sprinkle Parmesan on top. This is one of our favorite family meals.

I made two- a veggie version with spinach and mushrooms and a meat version with Italian sausage. I didn’t layer just mixed everything together. Five stars!

This was delicious! Like another poster, I added the sour cream right into the sauce instead of layering it. I also added cooked Morning Star Veggie Crumbles to the sauce for some texture and "meat." It was a hit!

My daughter said it was ok, but was much better with pepperonis thrown in. Also, we are folks who don't like bland and a couple of reviews had mentioned it was bland. So I added about a tsp of dried minced onion and about a tsp of garlic powder to the sauce. Also mixed the sour cream into the sauce. Will make again with pepperoni chunks incorporated.

I have made this recipe twice. First time I made it exactly as the recipe stated and it was wonderful. Second time I added the sour cream directly to the sauce instead of layering it, used 12 oz of shredded mozzarella and also added 1.5 lbs of cooked chorizo, my family went crazy over it!! Will definitely put this recipe in our dinner rotation from now on. Thank you!

This recipe is great! It's one of the staple pasta dinners in our house. I make it a few time a year. If you want to make it better, grate fresh parmesan instead of Kraft.

This was so good that my family ate almost the whole pan in one meal. I added spicy sausage and it was a good addition.
