Grilled Cabbage Recipe
Ingredients
This recipe was developed at its original yield. Ingredient amounts are automatically adjusted, but cooking times and steps remain unchanged. Note that not all recipes scale perfectly.
- 1 head cabbage, cored
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Salt and ground black pepper to taste
- 1 pound bacon
Original recipe (1X) yields 6 servings
Directions
Step 1: Preheat your outdoor grill to medium-high heat and lightly oil the grate to prevent sticking.
Step 2: Take the cored cabbage and fill the hollow center with butter, a pinch of salt, and freshly ground black pepper.
Step 3: Roll the bacon slices and carefully stuff them into the cabbages center. If you have extra bacon, lay the slices over the top of the cabbage.
Step 4: Wrap the entire cabbage securely in aluminum foil to lock in flavors and moisture.
Step 5: Place the wrapped cabbage on the preheated grill and cook until tender, about 45 to 50 minutes.
Step 6: Remove the bacon from the cabbage and grill separately until crisp, approximately 5 to 7 minutes.
Step 7: Crumble the crisp bacon and sprinkle it over the grilled cabbage before serving.

Is there anything in this world that isn't enhanced by the addition of bacon? I highly doubt it. I adore grilled cabbage, and this recipe definitely lived up to my expectations. It's straightforward and undeniably delicious. I only made a minor tweak by substituting olive oil for butter, as it aligns better with my taste. The cabbage slices beautifully post-cooking, and the crispy crumbled bacon on top adds an extra layer of flavor that is simply delightful!

I didn't have a grill, which I believe would have enhanced the dish even more. Instead, I baked it with just 1/2 lb of bacon. I baked it at 400 degrees for 60 minutes, then removed the bacon and let the cabbage cook for another 10 minutes uncovered to ensure it reached an internal temperature of 165 F. I did this because some parts of the bacon still looked raw, and I didn't want to risk anyone getting sick. I fried up the bacon and crumbled it on top. The dish turned out to be delicious! Thank you for the great idea!
