Rapid Ragu® Chili

Rapid Ragu® Chili

Cook Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 (19 ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (26 ounce) jar RAG Old World Style Traditional Sauce
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

Directions

  1. Heat a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, chopped onion, and chili powder. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the beef is browned and the onion is soft.
  2. Stir in the rinsed kidney beans and the jar of pasta sauce. Mix well to combine.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the skillet. Let it simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. After 20 minutes, remove the skillet from heat and sprinkle the shredded Cheddar cheese on top. Let it melt into the dish.
  5. Serve as is or over hot cooked rice, or alongside tortilla chips for a crunchy option.

Tips

  • This chili is hearty and filling. For a fun twist, serve it over cornbread and top with cheese and sour cream to create an open-face chili pie.

This recipe is quite simple to make, however, it turns out rather plain. The spaghetti sauce used in it gives it a taste that resembles spaghetti sauce with beans. It would be more flavorful to use canned tomatoes and tomato sauce, then season it with cumin and salt, or any other ingredients that suit your idea of how chili should taste.

Extremely delicious! I omitted the onions and substituted kidney beans with pinto beans. The dish turned out fantastic! :)

I absolutely love easy recipes and this one is a winner for sure. Normally I'm not a fan of chili, but when I came across this recipe, I decided to give it a shot. I followed the recipe to the letter, including adding the shredded cheese and serving it with rice. The dish was incredibly delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Even my 4-year-old son approved and mentioned how good the house smelled while I was cooking. The only adjustment I'll make next time is adding a bit more chili powder, but overall, it's a simple, fast, and satisfying way to have a complete meal cooked in one pan.
