Spicy Catalina Swai Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 (4 ounce) fillet swai fish
- cup Catalina salad dressing
- 1 teaspoon chile-garlic sauce (such as Sriracha)
- teaspoon garlic powder
- teaspoon ground black pepper
- teaspoon sea salt
- teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- teaspoon mustard powder
- teaspoon ground white pepper
Directions
- Preheat your outdoor grill to medium-high heat.
- Place a large sheet of aluminum foil on a flat surface, then pinch the edges together to form a boat-like shape to contain the liquids.
- Pour the Catalina salad dressing into the center of the foil.
- Place the swai fish fillet in the dressing, turning it to ensure it's completely coated.
- In a small bowl, mix the chile-garlic sauce, garlic powder, black pepper, sea salt, red pepper flakes, mustard powder, and white pepper.
- Coat both sides of the fish fillet with the spice mixture.
- Wrap the aluminum foil around the fish and dressing, sealing the edges tightly.
- Grill the fish for about 8 to 12 minutes, or until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
Tips
Cook's Note: If you prefer a spicier flavor, feel free to add extra crushed red pepper or Sriracha sauce. For even more flavor, you can let the fish marinate in the refrigerator overnight, though it also cooks up wonderfully straight onto the grill.

We absolutely love Swai fish fillets! Normally, I make it a point to follow recipes exactly before giving feedback, but with this dish, we had to improvise and make our own Catalina dressing since we didn't have any on hand. I omitted the white pepper, as I'm not a fan of it, and the fish turned out absolutely delicious. Cooking them took just 12 minutes, and the sauce was fantastic. It was a pleasant change for us to try Swai prepared in this way. I paired it with some homemade refried rice, and the combination was as tasty as any dish you'd find in an oriental restaurant. Next time, we'll stick to the traditional Catalina dressing instead of our own version. This recipe is definitely a keeper!

This recipe was excellent! The fish had a unique flavor that we really enjoyed. We've made it twice already. The second time, we replaced the mustard with curry powder, which added a fantastic zing to the dish.

The majority of the household, including my extremely selective daughter, truly savored this dish!
