Chocolate Cake Pops Recipe
Ingredients
This recipe was developed at its original yield. Ingredient amounts are automatically adjusted, but cooking times and steps remain unchanged. Note that not all recipes scale perfectly.
- cup all-purpose flour
- cup white sugar
- 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- teaspoon baking soda
- teaspoon baking powder
- teaspoon salt
- cup buttermilk
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 egg
- teaspoon vanilla extract
- cup freshly brewed hot coffee
Directions
Step 1: Preheat a cake pop maker and brush with oil according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Step 2: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
Step 3: Add the buttermilk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Use an electric mixer to beat everything until smooth.
Step 4: Gradually mix in the freshly brewed hot coffee until fully incorporated.
Step 5: Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the batter into each reservoir of the prepared cake pop maker, filling each one completely.
Step 6: Close the cake pop maker and bake the batter for about 4 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centers comes out clean.
Step 7: Carefully remove the cake pops from the maker and allow them to cool completely before serving.
Cook's Note
If you dont have buttermilk, you can make a quick substitute by adding teaspoon of lemon juice or vinegar to a glass measuring cup. Then, pour in enough milk to make a total of cup. Let the mixture sit for 5-10 minutes before using it as a replacement for buttermilk.

Very good! Quick and easy. I always sub regular milk with a splash of vinegar for buttermilk and it never fails me. Got about 30 cake pops

They weren't too sweet and the consistency is perfect. I like my cake a fluffy and this recipe met my needs wonderfully. I will use this recipe again.

This made 24 cake pops. They came out okay. I'd probably use this recipe again, as it worked well enough in the electronic cake-pop maker. Approximately 4 minutes baking time worked. I did cut down on the sugar a little; I suggest not doing that and going ahead with the 1/2 cup. I also used hot water instead of coffee so my child could eat them, which might have affected the flavor.
