This dessert was a massive hit - I mean, huge. It was undoubtedly the highlight of the evening. Grown men were literally bowled over by its deliciousness. Forget about the main meal, serving just this dessert would have made everyone happy. My husband requested an ice cream dessert for our Memorial Day cookout, and I wasn't too excited about it. After browsing several recipes, I settled on this one because it included homemade fudge instead of store-bought. Making the fudge from scratch was surprisingly easy and definitely worth it. I didn't have high expectations for this dessert - I mean, it's just a hot fudge sundae, right? Wrong. This treat was amazing - beyond amazing. A simple combination of cookie crumbs, ice cream, fudge, peanuts, and whipped topping turned into a dessert that received rave reviews and made our dinner party unforgettable. None of us had heard of a Buster Bar before, but we all agreed that this was unbelievably delicious. This was my first time making it, but it won't be the last. I followed the recipe as is, but felt that the dessert needed a little extra pizzazz, so I sprinkled more Oreo cookie crumbs on top. And as a bonus, the crust came out of the pan perfectly intact.

I have been preparing this recipe for around 40 years, although back then it was known as the Buster Bar Ice Cream Cake (similar to Dairy Queen's). It never fails to impress. Sometimes I even whip up the chocolate sauce separately to drizzle over ice cream.
