Dead Bones (L'Ossa Morte) Recipe
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients
- 1 pound confectioners' sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 teaspoons ground cloves
- 3 eggs, lightly beaten
Directions
- Sift together the confectioners' sugar, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and ground cloves in a large bowl.
- Create a well in the center of the sifted dry ingredients. Pour the lightly beaten eggs into the well.
- Using a fork, gently mix the eggs into the dry ingredients, gradually incorporating the flour mixture.
- Once the eggs are mixed in, switch to using your hands to knead the dough until smooth and well-combined.
- Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Using the bottom of a glass, gently flatten each dough ball to form a cookie shape.
- Cover the baking sheet with a clean dish towel and let the dough rest overnight. The cookies will spread during this resting period.
- Preheat your oven to 350F (175C) while the dough rests.
- Once the dough has rested, place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 15 minutes, or until the cookies are golden brown.
- As soon as the cookies are done, remove them from the baking sheet immediately to prevent sticking.
- Allow the cookies to cool completely on a wire rack before serving or storing.

These turned out very tough. I might have made a mistake, but I'm not sure what it could be as I followed the recipe to the letter.
