I've now made this 3 times and it still amazes me how good it turns out each time. I think the type of cake mix has a lot to do with it. I've never used the Duncan Hines mixes, but have opted for either a vanilla cake mix from Trader Joes or a cinnamon crumb/coffee cake mix from my local supermarket. I used 1 can of sliced peaches in light syrup and then frozen fresh peach slices (not thawed) to fill the bottom of the baking dish (the cake mixes have enough sugar that no extra sugar is needed). And I also sprinkled vanilla extract over the top of the cake mix before the melted butter. Delicious!!!

Cut a stick & 1/2 butter into thin slices to cover cake mix to avoid it being dry/powdery. Take it from an old Southern cook, I always sprinkle cinnamon on the peaches & then some on top of butter patties. 🧈

Easy recipe. I used cherry and blueberry canned filling. Also slightly mixed and pressed down the topping to make sure it would not be powdery. It comes out great every time.

Made this last night for the first time. I used a 8x11 glass dish and loaded peaches until I couldn't see the bottom of the dish but were still in a single layer, then poured about 1/2 of the light syrup from the peaches jar. Poured the entire Duncan Hines yellow cake mix over the peaches and then shook the dish a little bit to even out. Sliced the butter in pads (like another reviewer suggested), and covered the cake mix evenly with the pads. Baked until top was golden brown, and then left in a little longer bc I was concerned cake mix was too thick and hadn't cooked all the way through. It turned out beautifully. Kids loved it, I loved it, and it was incredibly easy. Next time, I will use a slightly larger baking dish, use more peaches, and the cake mix will be a thinner layer. It will be perfect. Highly recommend.

Love this easy recipe but I used fresh peaches from my tree. Added a little sugar. I used a 9x9 dish and sprinkled enough cake mix to cover where you don’t see peaches. The 2/3 stick of melted butter and bake. Best thing is adding fresh whipped cream!!

I put a can of blueberry pie filling on the bottom of the dish and covered that with sliced peaches, then covered with a yellow cake mix, butter patts. When almost done, I added cinnamon and brown sugar mixed and sprinklered over for the last ten minutes of bake time.

I bought a fresh pineapple, sliced and grilled it, then chopped it. Put the chopped pineapple in a sauté pan w 1/2 stick butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar, cook until liquid thickens. Then use the recipe as normal. Love it!

I made a blueberry dump cake adding a pint of fresh blueberries. I also used lemon cake mix and the juice and grated rinds of a large lemon. Delicious!

Where I'm from, we call this a "Dump Cake". Most commonly, I make it with crushed pineapples (from a can) and cherry pie filling. It usually only takes me like 45 minutes to bake. The key is to evenly distribute the butter over the raw cake mix powder. I don't even melt the butter, I just slice up a stick and put a dab every half inch, or so. It's so versatile and can be done with any fruit base.

I made this with blueberry pie filling. instead of just pouring the butter on top of dry cake mix, i combined them to make a crumble topping. worked out beautifully.

I added the usual to the peaches, brown sugar, vanilla extract , lemon, nutmeg , & cinnamon then I put the cake mix on top and then the butter. It turned out extra yummy, I will definitely be making this again.

I used to make this using plain selzter instead of butter. I also used different fruits. This recipe may have more calories and fat, but it sure is more moist.

Love this recipie! To avoid the dry cake mix on top, I use extra butter, and add smaller size can of peaches (with syrup) to add on top during last 10-15 min of baking. Helps add moisture to the mix!

I had to mix the batter (cobbler) right at the end. The powder didn't incorporate I to the juices/butter

Forgive my picture, because my family ate half of it before I could get a picture... That's how amazing this recipe is. Super easy to make. I didnt add anything extra because my husband is allergic to cinnamon. I did use 2 cans of peaches in Heavy syrup, and a 3rd can drained, I also have a conventional oven, so I baked it 350° for about 1 hour and 10 mins.

My grandmother used to make this all the time but she added vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg and brown sugar. I made mine the same exact way, I’m sure it’ll be good. ESP with some vanilla ice cream
