Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chip Pie Recipe
Ingredients
This recipe makes 8 servings. Ingredient quantities are automatically scaled for different portions, but cooking times and steps remain the same. Keep in mind that not all recipes scale perfectly.
- 2 large eggs
- cup all-purpose flour
- cup granulated sugar
- cup packed brown sugar
- cup butter, softened
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 1 (9-inch) deep-dish pie crust, thawed
- 1 cup whipped cream, for serving
Directions
Follow these steps for a rich, nutty chocolate pie:
- Preheat your oven to 325F (165C) and prepare a wire rack for cooling.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs on high speed until light and foamy.
- Add the flour, granulated sugar, and brown sugar to the eggs, mixing until fully combined.
- Blend in the softened butter until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts until evenly distributed.
- Transfer the mixture into the thawed pie crust, spreading it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 55 to 60 minutes, or until a knife inserted halfway between the edge and center comes out clean.
- Allow the pie to cool on the wire rack before serving.
- Serve warm with a generous dollop of whipped cream.

This was made according to recipe and it's simply delicious! In my opinion, if it's altered, it needs to be submitted under another name because it's a different recipe.

Huge hit at my dinner party! I added 1/8 teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon vanilla. I plan to make this again and again. It comes together really easily. Serve with vanilla ice cream.

Oh my this is good! My second pie for Pi Day 2015. I added 1 tsp of vanilla and omitted the nuts, mine baked in 50 minutes at 350 degrees. Served with vanilla bean ice cream and a chocolate caramel drizzle with strawberries on the side.

Family favorite!!! I always foil the edges of my pie crust before I start and it keeps my crust from burning. My family loves the crust and this pie. I always have to make 4 to feed the family! It’s a staple for our holiday dinners!

Helpful hint: If you omit the nuts, you need to adjust the flour from 1/2 to 3/4 cup. This could be the reason some have ended up with a "goopy" pie. I've made it many, many times (with and without nuts) and I've never had an issue.

Our kids loved this pie, and I loved the texture of it! The only thing missing was a pinch of salt in the batter.

Cut the butter back to 1/2 c. It does not need so much.

I made this exactly as it said to, and it came out like a butter soup. But I was determined and made it perfectly with these adjustments: 1 stick of butter, 1/2 cup + 1 tablespoons flour, Pinch or 2 of salt, and a Dash of butter flavor. It came out still quite gooey and DELICIOUS!!

This has been one of the traditional pies served at my family's Thanksgiving for years. It's a simple recipe to modify as well. I've added extra spices sometimes. I've also made it with caramel bits instead of chocolate chips, cardamom, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt to finish off the top of it and my friends have gone crazy for it.

No changes. It was delicious as is using pecans. One suggestion: use a good quality or homemade crust.

Yummy! If you love chocolate chip cookies this pie is for you. I added 1/4 tsp. salt to balance the sweetness. It's a keeper!

This recipe is bad. Do not make this. It’s way too greasy and doesn’t set. I just baked it for over an hour and it’s just greasy goop that isn’t setting. Ticked I just wasted the ingredients because I would in no way feel OK serving this to anyone.

We have been making this recipe for a long time now. Everyone loves it, and we get requests for it before every holiday meal or family get together.

I made 3 for a school pie auction. I’ve never made this before and all 3 came out perfectly!

I have made this recipe over a hundred times in the last 30 years. I got this exact recipe mailed to me from Nestle back before the internet. If it comes out soupy or greasy you have not followed the recipe. This is my most requested dessert of all time and it never disappoints.

I cooked for way over the suggested time and it still looked so soupy. My guess is there is way too much butter like some others have suggested. It just never fully set. Even the next day it didn’t look right. I am going to try again because my bf remembers eating this as a kid so I really want it to work. I’ll try to update on my second attempt.

It was good, but way too much butter – it’s kind of greasy.
