  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • teaspoon baking powder
  • teaspoon salt
  • cup vegetable oil
  • 3 fluid ounces milk
  • 6 cups apples - peeled, cored and chopped
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425F (230C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the vegetable oil and milk using a fork until the mixture forms a ball.
  3. Divide the dough into two equal pieces. Roll out each half, one at a time, between two sheets of waxed paper. Use one half to line a 9-inch pie pan.
  4. In another large bowl, combine the peeled and chopped apples, lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon. Mix well.
  5. Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust. Dot the filling with butter.
  6. Cover with the second piece of dough. Seal and crimp the edges, then cut several slits in the top to allow steam to escape during baking.
