Cook's Notes
- It is not recommended to preheat the air fryer as the parchment paper may not stay in place.
- The dough can also be portioned onto parchment paper and frozen. After freezing, transfer to a resealable freezer bag and label. You can freeze the dough for up to 1 month. Add an extra 2 minutes to the cooking time if the dough is frozen.

Origin and History
Chocolate chip cookies have a beloved history, with their roots tracing back to the United States in the 1930s. The original version was created by Ruth Wakefield, who owned the Toll House Inn in Massachusetts. Ruth's discovery was purely accidental; she ran out of bakers chocolate and substituted it with a bar of semi-sweet chocolate. This led to the creation of the now-famous chocolate chip cookie. Since then, chocolate chip cookies have become a staple in many households and bakeries worldwide, evolving into countless variations. One such variation is the "Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Cookie Bites," a modern twist on the classic that takes advantage of the air fryers ability to create crispy, golden treats with less oil.
Regional Variations
Chocolate chip cookies have regional variations that often involve local ingredients or unique preparation methods. In the U.S., the classic chocolate chip cookie is often baked in large, round shapes or as bars. However, the air fryer adaptation is gaining popularity for its convenience and ability to produce small, bite-sized versions. The air fryer also allows for a crispier texture, which is perfect for those who prefer their cookies with a bit of crunch. In contrast, some regions like the UK enjoy their cookies, known as "biscuits," with a softer texture, often with different chocolate or nut combinations. The use of toasted pecans in the Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Cookie Bites adds a regional American twist that elevates the flavor profile.
Distinction from Similar Dishes
While there are many types of cookies and baked goods that include chocolate chips, the Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Cookie Bites stand out in a few key ways. The most significant difference lies in the cooking method: while traditional chocolate chip cookies are baked in an oven, these cookie bites are cooked in an air fryer. The size of the cookie bites is another distinctive factor. These smaller, bite-sized cookies are perfect for snacking and offer a fun twist compared to the usual larger cookies or cookie bars.
Where Are They Typically Served?
Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Cookie Bites are a versatile treat that can be served in various settings. They are perfect for casual gatherings like family dinners, parties, or potlucks, as they are easy to make and share. Their small size makes them an ideal option for kids' parties, where children can enjoy a few bites without the mess or hassle of cutting up larger cookies. They are also a great addition to coffee or tea breaks, providing a sweet complement to a hot beverage. With their delightful texture and rich flavor, these cookie bites are sure to be a hit at any occasion.

These cookies were delicious! Although mine didn't spread, it could be because I prepared the dough earlier this month and had to freeze it due to being busy. I did thaw it before air frying, but they still didn't spread. Nevertheless, they turned out to be tasty little nuggets!
