All-Day Apple Butter Recipe

Ingredients
- 5 pounds apples - peeled, cored and finely chopped
- 4 cups white sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- teaspoon ground cloves
- teaspoon salt
Directions
- Place the apples in a slow cooker.
- In a medium bowl, combine sugar, cinnamon, cloves, and salt. Mix well, then pour the mixture over the apples and stir to combine.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on High for 1 hour.
- After 1 hour, reduce the heat to Low and cook, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens and turns dark brown. This will take 9 to 11 hours.
- Uncover the slow cooker and continue cooking on Low for an additional hour.
- If desired, use a whisk to stir and smooth out the mixture.
- Spoon the finished mixture into sterile s, cover, and refrigerate or freeze for later use.
