Chicken and Spinach Puffs Recipe

Chicken and Spinach Puffs Recipe

Cook Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves, cubed
  • 3 tablespoons chopped onion
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 cups fresh spinach
  • 1 cups ricotta cheese
  • cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 6 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 3 (10 ounce) cans refrigerated crescent roll dough

Directions

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 325F (165C).

Step 2: In a large skillet, cook and stir the chicken, onion, and garlic over medium-low heat until the onion becomes tender, which should take around 5 minutes.

Step 3: Add the spinach to the skillet. Cook and stir frequently until the spinach has wilted down and the chicken is lightly browned, approximately 10 more minutes.

Step 4: Transfer the cooked mixture to a bowl. Add ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, and softened butter. Stir everything together until the filling is smooth and creamy.

Step 5: Unroll the crescent roll dough. Pinch two triangles together to form a rectangle. Repeat this process with the remaining dough to make a total of 12 rectangles.

Step 6: Place about 1 tablespoon of the chicken filling in the center of each rectangle. Fold the corners of the dough over the filling to create little dough balls.

Step 7: Arrange the filled dough balls on a large baking sheet, making sure they are spaced out evenly.

Step 8: Bake the dough balls in the preheated oven for about 12 minutes, or until they are golden brown and the filling is heated through.

really good! I added garlic powder, salt and peppered the chicken while cooking,a pinch of cayenne, and used extra big croissants. I added extra filling and cook time because my puffs were bigger. Delicious!

This was delicious. Simple to make, but does take some time. These would make very nice appetizers to bring to a pot luck get together if made in a smaller size puff. Recipe alterations I made were adding water to the chicken and shredding it, using shredded swiss and Italian blend cheese with less ricotta, and adding chopped almonds and Kale along with the spinach.

This recipe was a big hit. It does make a lot of filling. I had a good bit left over that was used for a pasta dish the next day. I did use puff pastry sheets instead of the crescents. The one change I would make is the temperature of the oven. 325 is not hot enough to brown the pastry.

The ratio is completely wrong. I had an enormous amount of the filling. I would cut it in 1/4 the next time. Also, I did not care for the crescent rolls. The second night, since I had so much filling left over, I bought puff pastry. A million times better.

Made with gluten free baking mix for a dinner party, pressed the dough into muffin pans, quite yummy

I added cottage cheese to it and more garlic. I won my family appetizer contest on Christmas.

Yummy. I didn't have any crescent rolls so I put the mixture over a pillsbury pie crust and cooked it according to the pie directions. It came out pretty good!

I made these. Few things...I made 8 squares per package and they are still large for an appetizer. Also baked them at 375 as per the instructions for the Crescent roll package. Baked them for 15 to 16 minutes.

Good. a little bland. might add other flavors next time. My Grandson liked it and he doesn't care for spinach!

I loved them! I only made one change. I used pie crust instead of crescent rolls (I don't like crescent rolls).

This was outstanding. I used red bell pepper and dried chicken broth , no other changes. Served over homemade rosemary bread toast. Definitely a keeper.

Easy enough to make but no flavor.

My daughter, who swore she hated spinach and wasn't going to eat them, LOVED them. These are so good and moist! I will probably tweak the recipe just a bit and add more fresh spinach next, only because it does cook down so much. I will definitely be making these again!!

This is a very tasty way to get my husband to eat his veggies. He loves this recipe! I always have leftover filling, so I've started freezing it and using it later.

Awesome recipe, although the bottom of the dough tends to not cook thoroughly unless you add a bit extra.
