Salt and Pepper Skillet Fries Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon butter
- 3 large potatoes, sliced lengthwise into 1/2-inch circles and cut into 1/2-inch strips
- teaspoon coarse sea salt
- teaspoon cracked black pepper
Directions
Step 1: Heat the olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium heat until the butter is fully melted and the oil is hot.
Step 2: Add the potato strips to the skillet, making sure they are spread evenly. Cook and stir the potatoes for 20 to 25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking.
Step 3: Once the fries are cooked, transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Step 4: Immediately season the fries with coarse sea salt and cracked black pepper to taste. Serve hot and enjoy your crispy homemade fries!

We absolutely adored these! I substituted 1 tablespoon of butter for 1 teaspoon, and added extra salt and pepper to suit our taste. I was thrilled with how crispy and flavorful they turned out. The family is already eagerly anticipating when I'll make them again...this recipe is definitely a keeper! YUM! Thank you for sharing. :)

I sprinkled in a teaspoon of garlic in the final 5 minutes of cooking. The dish turned out scrumptious and was a breeze to make.

These were truly delicious! I opted to keep the potato skins on, and it added a fantastic flavor. I will certainly be making these again!

I began by using olive oil and butter, but later switched to peanut oil for refilling. The results were fantastic and preparation was a breeze - each batch didn't even take 20 minutes to cook.

We enjoyed these alongside fried shrimp and they complemented each other perfectly. I kept them warm in a 200-degree oven on a baking sheet while preparing the shrimp. They were absolutely delicious - reminiscent of a combination between French fries and traditional fried potatoes. The flavor was enhanced by the addition of butter, and my husband even declared that we will be opting for these over regular fried potatoes in the future. The distinction between butter-fried potatoes and regular fried potatoes is undeniable. I am also intrigued to experiment by trying them with a combination of peanut oil and butter.
