Instant Pot Turkey Bone Broth Recipe
Turkey Bone Broth
This rich and flavorful turkey bone broth is perfect for soups, gravies, or as a stand-alone comfort food. Heres how to make it!
Ingredients
- 1 leftover turkey carcass
- 2 stalks celery, cut into chunks
- 1 medium onion, cut into wedges
- 1 medium carrot, cut into chunks
- cup apple cider vinegar
- Cooking spray
Directions
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 425F (220C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and coat it with cooking spray.
Step 2: Break up the turkey carcass and place it onto the prepared baking sheet. Roast in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the bones start to brown and develop a rich color.
Step 3: In a multi-functional pressure cooker (like an Instant Pot), combine the celery, onion, carrot, and apple cider vinegar.
Step 4: Add the roasted turkey bones along with any drippings from the baking sheet. Fill the pot with water, just enough to cover the bones, but do not exceed the maximum fill line of the pressure cooker.
Step 5: Close and lock the lid. Select the high-pressure setting according to your cooker's instructions, and set the timer for 60 minutes.
Step 6: After the cooking time finishes, allow 10-15 minutes for the pressure to naturally release. Once that time has passed, carefully release any remaining pressure using the quick-release method in short bursts (about 5 minutes).
Step 7: Unlock the lid and remove the solids from the broth. Discard the bones and vegetables.
Step 8: Strain the stock through a fine-mesh sieve lined with a double layer of cheesecloth into an airtight . Let the broth cool to room temperature before covering and refrigerating it.
Step 9: Before using or freezing, skim off any fat that has risen to the surface.
Cook's Note
Use a turkey carcass from a 12-pound or larger turkey for best results.
