Quick Baked Chicken Parmesan Recipe

Cook Time: 55 minutes

Chicken Parmesan

Ingredients:

  • Canola oil cooking spray
  • cup water
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cups bread crumbs
  • 6 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese, divided
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • teaspoon dried thyme
  • teaspoon garlic powder
  • 6 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
  • 2 cups spaghetti sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F (175C). Spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the water and egg until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the bread crumbs, 2 tablespoons of Parmesan cheese, oregano, basil, thyme, and garlic powder.
  4. Dip each chicken breast into the egg mixture, allowing any excess egg to drip back into the bowl.
  5. Coat the chicken breast in the bread crumb mixture, shaking off any excess crumbs.
  6. Repeat the process: dip the chicken back into the egg mixture and coat it again in the bread crumb mixture for a double layer of coating.
  7. Place the breaded chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish and spray them lightly with cooking spray.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes.
  9. Pour the spaghetti sauce over each chicken breast, then top with mozzarella cheese and the remaining Parmesan cheese.
  10. Continue baking for an additional 15 minutes, or until the chicken is no longer pink in the center and the cheeses are melted. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 165F (74C).
  11. Serve the chicken Parmesan over pasta.

Recipe Tip: If you run out of egg mixture, simply add a bit more water to continue coating the chicken.

I hate when people say they followed a recipe but changed literally everything about it, and give a 5 star rating when the rating rates a recipe they didn't follow - at all. That being said, I actually followed the recipe, word for word and by exact measurements. It was great. Super easy.

Really delicious! I sliced my breasts in half so that they were thin. I baked them on a rack set inside a 9x13 pan which worked well. This is the first time I've made Chicken Parm without the bottom being mushy! I used a combination of traditional bread crumbs and panko crumbs and only dipped it in the egg and crumbs mixture once. I was afraid all of my crumbs would fall off in the egg for the second dip. It only needed about 20 minutes before I added the sauce and then 15 with it since the breasts were so thin. We served it over Orzo. Yummy! This will be my go-to Parm recipe.

I was out of Garlic Powder so I made Garlic Butter to brush over the tops. We had no spaghetti sauce so I substituted with Marinara Sauce with added Basil and Oregano. It was better than our favorite Italian Restaurant. A keeper for sure. I also made cutlets and slightly pounded out the cutlets so I reduced the time to 30 minutes before saucing. I took them up using a thermometer to determine when done. They were very tender and very tasty.

This recipe is an easy, family pleasing recipe. I tried to stay as close to the original recipe as possible. I had seasoned Italian breadcrumbs so I did not need to add the seasoning specified in the recipe. I recommend using a baking sheet and rack instead of a regular backing dish. I used mine and the results were chicken breasts that were crispy on both sides. Once my chicken was cooked thoroughly, I turned on the broiler just long enough to get a pretty brown color on both sides before soooning a little sauce over and adding the cheese to each breast.

Good, easy recipe BUT the baking temperature and time is way off. I can't imagine baking chicken breast for AN HOUR. It would be so dry. I'd recommend pounding the breasts out so they're all even, about 1/2". Then bake at 400 for 15 mins, top with cheese, and bake another 5-10 (check temp with a meat thermometer or cut a piece open).

Loved it! The chicken came out very tender. Mine was fairly thick and was done ahead of the time listed. I used just one cup of breadcrumbs to trim calories, and used olive oil instead of cooking spray. I loaded my pasta sauce with peppers, onions, and carrots, and used fresh mozzarella instead of pre-shredded. Easy dish with little hands-on time.

Really enjoyed this. How I got to be in my ___ decade of life without having/making a chicken parm recipe is a mystery. This is a good one. I used the quantities shown for 6 servings and used only two chicken breasts, which I pounded to about 1/2" thick. As a result, I cut back both cooking times by 5 minutes each. Worked out great, and I have extra breading to keep refrigerated for the next time.

I followed the recipe exactly except I didn't bake the sauce over the chicken in the oven. I wanted it pretty, so I cooked it on the stove to reduce it a little and get it hot. Then I put spaghetti noodles in a dish, placed the chicken on top, added the sauce, and topped it with the mozzarella. then I put it back in the oven to melt the cheese. Tasted great and looked pretty.

Delicious, used thighs as I didn't have breasts. It came out in the oven just as well as frying , and also saved time. It was juicy and tasty, loved this recipe.

Excellent as written. I like to pound the chicken breast thin, therefore cooking time will be about 10 minutes less. Because I used Italian bread crumbs, I had to cut back a little on the spices (cut in half). I only dipped in the breadcrumbs one time. Mu favorite sauce is Prego Roasted Garlic and Herb. Don't forget the important step of putting cooking spray on the top before placing in the oven!

So delicious. I used 3 good sized chicken breasts sliced down the middle lengthwise and I forgot to spray with cooking spray before baking but it was still so tasty. I’ll be making this every couple of months when I need to amp up the flavour of chicken breasts.

It was very good, next time I will add my own home made sauce. No one was crazy about the jar sauce I used,

Very good basic recipe. Only change was that I dumped some extra sauce on the cooked pieces.

I am doing Keto so I used crushed pork rinds for bread crumbs.

I turned out yummy! The only thing I did different, is it was done baking I put it under the broiler to get the cheese a little browned. It looked and tasted so yummy!
