Air Fryer Catfish Nuggets
Catfish Nuggets in Air Fryer
Ingredients:
- 1 pound catfish fillets, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 3/4 cup seasoned fish fry coating (such as Louisiana Fish Fry Products)
- Nonstick cooking spray
Directions:
- Preheat the air fryer to 400F (200C).
- Place the seasoned breading mix in a gallon-size plastic resealable bag.
- Add the catfish pieces into the bag, seal it, and shake to coat the fish evenly with the breading.
- Spread the breaded catfish nuggets out on a baking sheet and lightly spray with nonstick cooking spray.
- Transfer the nuggets to the air fryer basket, arranging them in an even layer with the sprayed side down. You may need to work in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
- Spray the tops of the nuggets with more nonstick cooking spray.
- Air fry the nuggets for 8 minutes. After 8 minutes, use tongs to flip the nuggets over and continue cooking for an additional 4 minutes.
- Once the nuggets are golden brown and crispy, remove them from the air fryer and serve.

I buy the nuggets from Kroger for 2.99 LB. The Filets are 7.00 LB. I use the nuggets to make PoBoys. They work perfectly..... I use Louisiana New Orleans Style Fish Fry. The recipe does not need any tweaking at all. The nuggets I get are from the belly flap, they are too small to be sold as filets and have too much great meat to be thrown away, and they are already the right size.

You only need a little spray oil or they get very soggy, otherwise so easy and yummy with tartar sauce!

I made my own salt free Louisiana fish fry seasoning and seasoned my nuggets. They came out nice and crispy, just like if I deep fried them. I was delightfully surprised by that fact and now I'm making them again!

So I made this airfried recipe today and it came out great! I followed the recipe, except when it comes to seasonings, I LOVE SPICY, SPICY, SPICY!! So I added about 1 tablespoon of Creole seasoning to the dry mixture. I had tartar sauce so that was my dipping sauce and it really complimented the catfish well. I served it with roasted red bell peppers and green beans. I also made a salad and finished it off with a homemade banana nut loaf with cinnamon honey butter. Yummy!! Thank you for this delicious and very simple recipe!!

I made surf and turf for dinner, Steak and tilapia, with broccoli /cauliflower , baked potato and cheese sauce. Husband and son ate all of the fish and steak, did not touch anything else except a class of strawberry milk. BOY they are spoiled. Great recipe.

These were ok. But I think I will stick to pan frying my fish - much better control in getting them to the right doneness.
