Got a new air fryer and had to try it out. Figured before I tried something more substantial, I couldn't possibly ruin a hot dog. I was right. The hotdogs tasted just like we had grilled them outside and the toasted buns were wonderful. Great first outing with the air fryer. Now I have some confidence that I can make something more expensive and not ruin it. Thanks for all the reviews that gave me the angst to try it myself. Kathy Acord

I've tried hot dogs every which way you can in an effort to get them to taste like vendor dogs. Steaming, baking, boiling, frying, half-boiling and half-frying, shaken, stirred, and ala mode. Nothing has come close until now. Completely juicy and cooked through. I put some cheese on the bun before I fried it and it came out perfectly melted, I would add a minute or two next time to make the dogs and bread a bit crispier as a good dog should be, but this is my new go-to for sure. I basically inhaled them.

These hot dogs, Sabrett bun size frankfurters, were as good as cooking them on the grill. I have an inexpensive air fryer that does not have a preheat feature. I cooked the hot dogs first, then the buns. I scored the hot dogs before cooking for 6 minutes, turning them after 3 minutes. I buttered Martin's Potato Rolls and cooked them for 4 minutes. I also used parchment liners so there was no mess!

My family loves this recipe. I added a minute longer on the cooking time for the hotdogs because I wanted them crispier.

What a game changer!!! I had to add a minute or 2, not all air fryers are the same. Less then 10 minutes we had the BEST hot dogs ever!

I used a Cuisinart Convection Toaster Oven TOB-260N1 with an air fryer basket and cooked the hotdog at 400° (did not need the preheat) for 6 minutes turning them after 3 minutes then I placed them in the hotdog buns and put the hotdog buns back in the toaster oven and cooked them for another 2 minutes. Came out perfect, when I make these again I’ll use the same method.

The instructions were great! Like others i am just starting to use an air fryer and was a little skeptical, but I will use this over grilling much of the time. The recipe didn’t specifically say to score the dogs but I did on account of the photo and it was a good call! I made this with Hebrew National reduced fat dogs.

I roll the dogs in oil or melted butter first and then cook. This makes them taste even more like they were grilled.

I’m still new to the air fryer... so basic is a good way to start! And, I was using the basic Oscar Meyer weenies. I opted to cook those solo. And, it definitely took a little longer than 3 minutes. I had them in there for approximately 5-6 minutes, solo (for 2). From there, when they began to bubble & “pop”, I removed them & placed the buns in for approximately 3 minutes. That crisped the buns perfectly. I then placed the hot dogs on the buns, added some shredded cheese, placed back in for about 2 minutes to melt. They turned out well! I just think the cook time for the dogs is a little too short, but that may also vary depending on the appliance being used. This was certainly MUCH better than boiling or microwaving! Can’t beat a grill, but it definitely works for the better results.

I always need something to go by when I try something new in my air fryer, which I love, by the way. Temperature and timing are what I look for. I browned my rolls on both sides with a spray misting of canola. Took about 3 minutes in my fryer. Made four slashes in my skinless hot dogs, and air fried them for six minutes to get them golden brown and crispy on the outside, flipping half way through. Served them with vegetarian baked beans and a tossed salad with fresh watermelon. Perfect meal for a hot summer's day. Just as good, if not better, than wilting outdoors over a hot grill. Yum!
