Orzo and Rice Pilaf
This simple yet flavorful dish combines orzo pasta and rice with a rich buttery flavor, perfect as a side dish or a light main. It's easy to make and perfect for a family meal!
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- cup uncooked orzo pasta
- cup long-grain white rice
- 1 cube chicken bouillon
- 2 cups water
Directions
- In a large heavy saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
- Add the uncooked orzo pasta to the pan and brown it until golden. Stir occasionally to ensure even browning.
- Once the orzo is golden, add the rice, chicken bouillon cube, and water to the saucepan. Stir to combine.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium-low. Cover the saucepan with a lid.
- Let the mixture simmer for about 20 to 25 minutes, or until the water is fully absorbed by the rice and orzo. Keep an eye on it and avoid stirring during the simmering process.
- Once all the water has been absorbed, remove the pan from the heat and let it sit for a few minutes before serving.
- Fluff with a fork and serve as a side dish or enjoy it on its own!
