Cook Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients

This recipe was developed at its original yield. Ingredient amounts are automatically adjusted, but cooking times and steps remain unchanged. Note that not all recipes scale perfectly.

Original recipe (1X) yields 8 servings.

  • Cooking spray
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
  • 1 (12 ounce) package meatless ground beef substitute (such as Impossible Foods)
  • 1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
  • cup water
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 (8 ounce) package refrigerated crescent rolls

Directions

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350F (175C). Spray a 10-inch pie dish with cooking spray.

Step 2: Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the meatless ground beef and break it up as it cooks. Continue cooking until browned and crumbly.

Step 3: Shake the onion soup mix pouch well, then scoop out half of the contents using a spoon. Stir it into the meatless beef mixture. Add more soup mix to taste and discard or reserve the remaining mix for later use.

Step 4: Stir in cup of water and remove the pan from heat. Fold in the shredded Cheddar cheese. The cheese should be evenly distributed through the mixture, but not completely melted.

Step 5: Divide the meatless mixture into 8 equal portions.

Step 6: Unroll the crescent roll dough on a flat surface, working with one piece at a time. Use your fingers to press the dough and slightly enlarge it, ensuring that the widest part is facing you.

Step 7: Place one portion of the meatless mixture in the center of the dough and gently roll it up towards the tip. Tuck the edges of the dough around the mixture to form a sealed bundle.

Step 8: Place the completed rolls into the prepared pie dish. Repeat with the remaining dough and filling.

Step 9: Bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
