Salmon Crescent Rolls

This easy recipe for Salmon Crescent Rolls combines the rich flavor of canned salmon with the creamy goodness of cheese and seasonings, all wrapped in buttery crescent roll dough. Perfect as an appetizer or a light meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can of salmon, drained
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon spicy brown mustard
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives
  • 2 teaspoons seafood seasoning (such as Old Bay)
  • 1 teaspoon dried minced onion
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 2 (8 ounce) cans refrigerated reduced-fat crescent rolls (such as Pillsbury)
  • 1 serving olive oil cooking spray

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375F (190C).
  2. Open the can of salmon, remove any bones or skin, and break the salmon into small pieces as preferred.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the salmon, shredded Cheddar cheese, egg, spicy brown mustard, mayonnaise, chopped chives, seafood seasoning, minced onion, and crushed red pepper. Mix until well combined.
  4. Unroll the crescent roll dough on a flat surface, and separate the dough into individual triangles.
  5. Place 1 to 2 tablespoons of the salmon mixture in the center of each dough triangle.
  6. Carefully fold the edges of the dough around the filling and pinch to seal, forming a small crescent shape.
  7. Place the rolls on an ungreased baking sheet, spacing them about 1 to 2 inches apart.
  8. Use a fork to poke the tops of the rolls a few times, then lightly spray them with olive oil cooking spray.
  9. Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 10 to 15 minutes, or until they turn golden brown.
  10. Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving.

Cook's Notes

This recipe yields 16 rolls. If serving as a main dish, you can expect 4 rolls per person. As an appetizer, one or two rolls per person is usually enough. The crushed red pepper adds a nice kick, but feel free to reduce or omit it if serving to children.

I was pleasantly surprised by the end result of these salmon crescents, but dealing with canned salmon was a new experience for me and it was the worst! All in all, though, I loved the spice and the chives in these. They would be great for a party!

Good recipe! I used garlic pepper in the mixture. Also, I didn’t have any wheat germ so I used a bit of flour and some panko. I’ll be making them again!
